HDFC ERGO Health iCan Cancer Insurance Policy comes in 2 plan variants: Enhance and Essential. It provides the following coverage:

  • Coverage of treatments-

The Standard Plan covers all types and all the stages of cancer, with the following treatment:

  • Chemotherapy
  • ONCO Surgery
  • Radiotherapy
  • Surgeries, or operations required for removal of cancerous tissues, or organs
  • Transplantation of organ for cancer treatment
  • Pre-Hospitalization Cover -The plan covers pre-hospitalization costs, i.e., the treatment cost before getting admitted to the hospital up to 30 days from the date of hospitalization.
  • Post-Hospitalization Cover - The policy provides coverage against post-hospitalization costs, expenses incurred after discharge from the hospital for up to 60 days.
  • Cashless Treatment - The HDFC ERGO Health iCan Cancer Insurance Policy provides cashless treatment across a network of 10,000 plus network hospitals. Otherwise, one can get treatment at a non-network hospital and get reimbursements for the same.

The plan also has an optional cover known as Advanced Plan, which covers the following treatment costs:

  • Endocrine manipulation
  • Hormonal Therapy
  • Immunotherapy including immunology agents
  • Personalized & Targeted therapy

Inclusions of the HDFC ERGO iCan Cancer Insurance

Online HDFC ERGO Health iCAN Cancer Insurance has the following inclusions:

  • Second Medical Opinion - The plan provides a second medical opinion benefit. The policyholder can refer to the medical practitioner or a panel of doctors before treatment after the first cancer diagnosis.
  • Follow-Up Care -Due to the side effects of cancer treatments, the HDFC ERGO Health iCan Cancer Health Insurance covers most of the post-treatment follow-up care of the policyholder up to Rs 3,000 annually, which is reimbursed two times a year.
  • Day Care Procedures -The treatments for which the person insured is hospitalized for less than 24 hours are daycare treatments. Such treatments are covered by this plan.

Exclusions of this Plan

HDFC ERGO Health iCan Cancer Insurance has the following exclusions:

  • Any other treatment except for cancer is not covered under this plan.
  • Any pre-existing disease in any way related to cancer is not covered. The person insured had any symptoms, or was diagnosed with, any investigation, consultation, or admission to hospital for the same before purchasing the policy.
  • AIDS, HIV infection, ARC, Kaposi's sarcoma, tuberculosis, and Lymphomas in the brain are not covered.
  • Any non-allopathic treatment like Siddha, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, etc., is not covered.
  • Any prosthetics or devices that are removable or self-detachable without surgery of any kind that might involve anesthesia are not covered.
  • Any treatment outside India is not covered.
  • Congenital external diseases, anomalies, or defects etc. are not covered.

Features of the HDFC ERGO Health iCan Cancer Insurance

Features of the HDFC ERGO Health iCAN Cancer Insurance are:

  • Criti Care Benefits -If the person insured is detected with cancer of specific severity, then this HDFC ERGO Health Insurance pays an additional lump sum amount, 60% of the sum insured amount. For example, if the policyholder has a Rs 20 lakh cover, he/she will get an additional 60%, i.e., Rs 12 lakh.
  • Family Care Benefit - The plan provides coverage for the family. On the diagnosis of cancer of the fourth stage or, if cancer recurs after recovering, one gets 100% of the sum insured as a lump sum payment.
  • Emergency Ambulance -For emergency ambulance, the policyholder gets Rs 2,000 as a reimbursement amount for emergency cases per such hospitalization.
  • Tax Benefits -Under Section 80 D of Income Tax, the policyholder gets tax benefits on the premiums paid up to a maximum of Rs 25,000.

Cancellation of Policy

The policyholder can cancel the plan within 15 days from the purchase date of the policy. Cancellation can be on the grounds of dissatisfaction with the terms and conditions of the policy. All the premiums paid will be returned to the policyholder if they have not applied/availed any claim. The full premium will be returned after deducting the stamp charges.
