A car plays a vital role in modern households nowadays. From travelling to and fro for work, to finally going on that long-due road trip, a car has become a necessity today. In 2019, the total number of cars in India stood at 295.8 million, according to Statista. These findings state the importance of cars in the lives of Indians. While these numbers have inevitably been on the rise over time, the utilization of cars has also increased manifold.

Hence, as we spend so much time in our car, it starts to feel almost like our second home. And that is why it is essential to keep it clean so that our journey is pleasant and our driving experience is comfortable. A car with a neat exterior and tidy interior is just one less thing to worry about when you're on your way to the office, or simply while driving over to get groceries. Let's look at some tips that can help you keep your car neat and clean.

1. Clean Surfaces
Pre-moistened auto wipes are a great way to clean the interiors of a car. You can keep it stashed in the glove box and use it for rubdowns of surfaces like the steering wheel, dashboard, glove compartment, etc. It is the perfect fix for cleaning the grime and the dust that gets accumulated in the car.

2. Routine Maintenance
Keeping a regular track of your car's maintenance is one of the easiest ways to avoid technical and mechanical problems in your car. As basic as it may sound, clearing dust deposits, checking unpleasant odours, and other primary check-ups that the car undergoes during servicing makes a big impact on the car's health in the long term.

3. Notice Everyday Dirt
Sometimes, a car does not feel clean despite smelling nice and looking acceptably tidy. Paying attention to details and initiating a clean-up on parts like foot mats could fix this. It is essential as foot mats continuously hold the dirt from the shoes of different people. Also, regularly cleaning cup holders are important as well since they tend to get dirty from liquids and crumbs quite easily.

4. Seat Cleaning
For those of you who have kids or pets, there's a good chance that your car seats will have deposits of dust, hair, crumbs, etc. in the seams of the cushion. These deposits can be cleaned with and an old toothbrush to tidy the cracks. The sooner and more frequently you do this, the lesser you need to worry about comfortable seating.

5. Trash Can
It's impossible to not have some trash from time to time, and sometimes there is no place to put it. It means that you either trash your car or dirty the roads. Therefore, a viable solution to this mess is a mini trash can that you can use during rides and dump the discharge when you're home.

Why Keep Your Car Clean?

We all know that a spic and span environment has relaxing and positive effects on the brain. Applying the same logic to your car can have a calming effect on the brain, which can help you focus better while driving. Studies indicate that neat, de-cluttered settings produce less confusion and curb "stress hormones" as they are directly related to fatigue, tiredness, and depression. Driving is already a stressful task, and with the increase in the number of cars on the roads, it is not getting any better. So a comfortable headspace while driving can have a calming effect on the driver.

Most importantly, good maintenance of a car can directly increase its resale value and help in preventing long-term damages. It simultaneously promotes safety and prohibits rash driving on the part of the owner. Hence, cleaning your car is an investment for a safe and smooth future.
