Registration Process with RTO Hyderabad

Temporary registration of a vehicle is necessary in order to drive freely and without penalties until the vehicle is permanently registered with the concerned RTO. An application in this regard shall be made in Form no. 20 to the registering authority or the dealer at the time of purchasing a vehicle. Temporary registration is offered for a limited period however, the owner can extent it by making an application for the same. The owner can fill an application to the registering authority applying for the period up to which the extension is required.

Documents Required for Temporary Registration

The below documents are required to submit along with the application form:

  • Form 20/application form
  • Form 21/Sales Certificate
  • Form 22/ Road Worthiness Certificate from the manufacturer
  • Form 22 A in case the body of the vehicle is fabricated
  • Copy of valid insurance document
  • Pollution Under control Certificate
  • Address proof of the owner
  • Copy of Design approval copy of STA in case Trailar or Semi Trailar
  • Copy of Original Sales Certificate in Form 21 in case the vehicle belonged to an ex-Army
  • Customs clearness certificate if the vehicle is imported
  • Applicable fee for temporary registration, if any
  • Payable tax as per APMVT Act

Permanent Registration of Vehicle in Hyderabad

Permanent Registration of vehicles plying on the roads of Hyderabad is a must as per the rule of Motor Vehicles Act 1988. As one can’t use a temporary registration card not more than one month, the vehicles need to be registered with the concerned RTO within this period. This is initiated by applying in Form no 20 and submit to the RTO Hyderabad, along with the below documents:

  • Form 20/.Application Form
  • Form 21/Sales Certificate from the dealer
  • Form 22/Road Worthiness Certificate from the manufacturer
  • Pollution Under Control Certificate
  • Valid Insurance Certificate
  • Address proof of the owner
  • In case of trailer or semi-trailar vehicle, Design approval copy of STA is required
  • If the vehicle belonged to ex-Army, Original Sales Certificate in Form 21 is required
  • Pollution Under control Certificate
  • Customs bills in case of registration of imported vehicles
  • Appropriate fee of registration as mentioned in Rule 81
  • Applicable Tax as per APMVT Act.

Issue of Duplicate Certificate of Registration in Hyderabad

An application can be made in order to avail a duplicate RC if the original one is lost or stolen. If the vehicle is covered by a financier, a NOC forms the authorised body is to be attached as well. The filled form has to be submitted to the RTO Hyderabad along with the other documents such as:

  • Copy of police FIR, (in case of loss)
  • PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate

Change of Residence in RC

In case the proprietor of the vehicle wishes to update a new address in the Registration Certificate, an application in this regard shall be made in Form No. 33. The duly filled form should be submitted to the RTO Hyderabad, along with the below documents: 

  • Registration Certificate (RC)
  • New Address Proof

Transfer of Vehicle Ownership in Hyderabad

If a transfer of ownership is required, the same can be initiated by applying in the Form no. 29 and submit to the RTO Hyderabad. The application form must accompany with:

  • Original Registration Certificate of the vehicle
  • Vehicle insurance documents
  • Pollution Under Control Certificate
  • PAN card in case of 4-wheeler
  • appropriate fee as specified in rule 81.
  • No Objection Certificate in form no. 28 in triplicate) to the previous Registering Authority

Transfer in Case of Death

If the actual owner of the vehicle dies, the person taking the possession of the vehicle should inform the concerned RTO about the occurrence of the death and his/her intention of using the vehicle, within 30 days.

He/she may apply for the same in Form no. 31 within the specified period and submit the form to RTO Hyderabad along with the below documents:

The death certificate in relation to the registered owner

  • Insurance documents of the vehicle
  • Registration Certificate of the vehicle
  • Appropriate fee as per the Rule no 81

Transfer of Ownership of Vehicle Owned through an Auction

When a person purchases a vehicle through a public auction, the ownership of the same has to be transferred by making an application in Form no, 32 within 30 days of purchasing the vehicle, to the concerned Registering Authority. The application form must accompany the below:

  • The applicable fee as mentioned in Rule 81 of M.V Act
  • Registration Certificate
  • Insurance document of the vehicle
  • Authorised confirmation on the sale of the vehicle through auction and duly signed by the person conducting the auction
  • Central or State Government copy of the order authorising the auction of the vehicle

Availing New Registration Mark on Removal of Vehicle to Another State

In order to avail a new registration mark for the vehicles sending to another state, an application shall be made in Form no. 27 and submitted to the RTO Hyderabad. The process of availing new registration mark should be initiated within 12 months from the delivery of the vehicle.
