  • ESTA Authorisation - You can enter USA with VWP only with an ESTA approval. The arrangement(s) for the same should be made before boarding the flight.

Admission Process for University of Michigan

Every year, University of Michigan welcomes a huge number of applications for its 263 undergraduate programmes. The admissions in the University of Michigan are granted through Common Application or Coalition Application. The application process for foreign students is the same as the other students. However, the admission requirement may vary depending on the country of origin or specific educational history or type of transcript is required. Also note that students with temporary visas are not eligible for financial aid or are required to pay the full attendance fee.

Application Steps to be Followed:

 The basic application steps include-

  • Apply through Common application or Coalition Application and pay the application fee $75
  • All the undergraduate students are required to submit the score of either SAT or ACT
  • Submit the School Report
  • Submit one Teacher Evaluation/Recommendation
  • ‘Submit a Counsellor Recommendation (not compulsory)
  • Submit a high school transcript. If the original transcript is not in the language other than English, an official English translation should be accompanied, containing the school leaving date or education gap if any
  • If English is the second language, MELAB, TOEFL, or IELTS scores are to be submitted without fail
  • Scholarships are not available for students with temporary visas and are required to pay the full fee for attendance
  • Restrain from submitting extra documents, unless the university requires it
  • The SAT/ACT scores are to be submitted by the testing agency directly before the deadline
  • Those who are planning to take SAT/ACT in October, the scores will not be accepted as it will not arrive on time. So, plan accordingly

There are after hour services as well for those who wish to use 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. transit services. A valid Mcard is required for using this.

Drinking Age:

The minimum drinking age in Michigan is 21 years. So, students below 21 years age are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages. Those who are eligible by age may require a valid ID to purchase alcohol.

Smoking Age:

The minimum permissible age for smoking is 18 years. However, smoking is strictly banned in the public spaces including restaurants, parks, school and college campuses. However, an appeal for raising the age up to 21 years has been made.
