I understand the investment plans/ health insurance plans are for people with Indian origin also. Does this cover OCI card ( Overseas citizen of India) holders living abroad with different passport ?
Hi Vijay, thanks for reaching out. OCI cardholders can purchase investment plans in India.
They can also take health insurance in India, however, do note that most plans would not cover medical expenses incured outside of India. There are a few that do provide global coverage, however, the coverage is limited to specific diseases such as cancer, organ transplant, etc. It is advisable to take a health insurance plan in India only if you plan to return to India in thenext 3-4 years, as by then the waiting period for pre-existing conditions will have been served by the time you return. If you plan to stay abroad longer, it is better to take an insurance plan locally in the country of your residence.
Do note that you would require to furnish Indian KYC documents for availing the insurance plans in India.
