How to get Government Ayushman Bharat health scheme

Policybazaar Team

Hello Reshma, thanks for writing in. Ayushman Bharat is a healthcare scheme launched by the Government of India in September 2018. The scheme aims to provide financial protection to vulnerable and low-income families by offering free healthcare services, including hospitalization, diagnostic tests, and other medical treatments.

Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, eligible beneficiaries are provided with a health insurance cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year. The scheme covers more than 10 crore families who are identified based on socio-economic and caste census data.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme has two components: the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), which provides free secondary and tertiary healthcare services, and the Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs), which offer primary healthcare services, including preventive and promotive care.

PM-JAY covers more than 1,500 medical procedures, including cancer treatment, cardiac surgeries, and kidney transplants. The scheme provides cashless and paperless services, and beneficiaries can avail of healthcare services at any of the empaneled hospitals or healthcare providers.

In addition to providing healthcare services, the Ayushman Bharat scheme aims to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in the country. The scheme encourages the adoption of technology and innovations in healthcare, and it also provides financial incentives to hospitals that meet specific quality and performance standards.

Overall, the Ayushman Bharat scheme aims to provide affordable and accessible healthcare services to vulnerable and low-income families, and it is an essential step towards achieving universal healthcare coverage in. India.
