Benefits of Porting to a Raheja QBE Health Insurance Policy

Here are some of the benefits of porting to a Raheja QBE Health Insurance policy:

    • Better Coverage Options: Policyholders of other health insurers can port to a Raheja QBE Health Insurance plan without incurring additional costs, upgrading their scope of coverage, or receiving superior services from the new insurance provider. For example, an extensive network of hospitals, organ donor benefits, ambulance coverage, etc.
    • No Claim Bonus: Portability ensures no loss of the accumulated NCB or No Claim Bonus when the policyholder switches to a Raheja QBE Health Insurance plan. For instance, if the NCB under the previous policy is 20%, it will be transferred/retained in the new policy.
    • Continuation of waiting periods: When porting a policy to Raheja QBE Health Insurance, the waiting periods served under the previous policy continue. Consequently, the policyholder must only serve the remaining waiting periods upon porting to the Raheja QBE Health Insurance policy.
    • Reduced Premiums: Health insurance portability allows policyholders to opt for a Raheja QBE Health Insurance Plan that provides similar benefits to their current plan but at a lower premium. It is especially beneficial for people whose premiums rise after filing a claim under their current policy.

Step 7: Within 7 working days, your current insurer will provide all requested information to Raheja QBE General Insurance via IRDAI's common data-sharing portal. If your existing insurer delays sharing the data, the decision on your portability request will be delayed

Documents Required for Raheja QBE Health Insurance Portability

The following documents are required for Raheja QBE Health Insurance portability:

    • Copy of Medical Insurance policies from the previous year
    • Claim History information from previous policies
    • Medical documents such as test reports, hospital discharge summary, medical summary, etc. in case of claims
    • Most recent renewal notice in which NCB is explicitly stated.

How Does NCB Work Under Raheja QBE Health Insurance Portability?

When a previous policy is ported to Raheja QBE health insurance, the NCB built up under the previous policy operates differently based on the circumstances.
Let's go over each of these scenarios in more detail below:

Scenario 1: If the policyholder chooses a Raheja QBE health insurance policy with precisely the same sum insured, the previous policy's waiting periods will suffice.

For example, let's take Bhavesh, whose health policy is of Rs 5 lakh and a No Claims Bonus (NCB) of Rs 3 lakh. If Bhavesh decides to switch to a Raheja QBE health insurance policy, also with a base sum insured of Rs 5 lakh, the waiting periods from his previous policy will continue. This means that Bhavesh can access coverage benefits without going through additional waiting periods.

Scenario 2: The previous policy's waiting periods will be sufficient if the policyholder ports to a health insurance policy with a base Sum Insured, i.e. SI equal to the base SI plus the NCB from the earlier policy.

For example, consider Bhavesh, who has a health policy of Rs 5 lakh and an NCB of Rs 3 lakh. If Bhavesh chooses to switch to a Raheja QBE health insurance policy of Rs 8 lakh, the waiting periods from his previous policy will continue. This happens because the total of Bhavesh's previous policy's base sum insured and NCB (Rs 5 lakh + Rs 3 lakh) matches the Raheja QBE policy's base sum insured (Rs 8 lakh).

Scenario 3: If the policyholder chooses a Raheja QBE health insurance policy with a higher base sum insured than their previous health policy, along with the retained NCB, the increased coverage amount is subjected to waiting periods.

For example, Bhavesh's current health policy has a base sum insured of Rs 5 lakh and an NCB of Rs 3 lakh. If Bhavesh decides to port to a Raheja QBE health plan with a base SI of Rs 10 lakh, the waiting periods served under the previous policy will be carried forward to the first Rs 8 lakh coverage. Yet, to access the additional Rs 2 lakh in coverage, regular waiting periods apply.
