Corona Rakshak Policy is a standard benefit-based COVID health policy introduced by IRDAI and made available by SBI General Insurance Co. Ltd. The policy helps you deal with the current pandemic by covering the cost of coronavirus treatment. You get a lump sum amount equal to 100% of the Sum Insured on being diagnosed as COVID positive. The payout is done when the policyholder is hospitalized for 72 hours or more. And the COVID diagnosis should be from a government-authorized diagnostic Centre.

    • Sum Insured- The minimum coverage amount is Rs 50,000 and the maximum is Rs 2.5 lakh
    • Policy Tenure- Policy duration options are 3.5 months, 6.5 months, and 9.5 months
    • Policy Type- It is a benefit based plan, the sum insured is paid in Lumpsum upon hospitalization
    • Pre-medical Screening- No medical screening is required before the policy purchase
    • Coverage- The policy sum insured can be availed on an individual basis
    • Claim Settlement- The COVID claims are settled within 30-days to 45-days of the date of receipt of documents.
    • All India Coverage- SBI Corona Rakshak plan offers insurance benefits anywhere within India

    What’s covered under SBI Corona Rakshak Policy?

    Once the insured gets a COVID-19 positive report from a Government Authorized Centre you can file a  claim for the following expenses:

    • Hospitalization Expenses: SBI Corona Rakshak policy covers room rent charges, nursing charges, ventilator charges, boarding charges, cost of PPE kits, masks, gloves, oxygen, and diagnostic tests
    • Consumable Items- The payout can be used for Oxygen cylinders, PPE Kits, ventilators cost are covered, which otherwise is not covered in a basic plan
    • Home Treatment Cover: The sum insured can be used for COVID treatment at home for a maximum of 14 days
    • ICU Cover: The cost of ICU/ICCU expenses is also included
    • AYUSH Cover: The sum insured can also be used for COVID-19 AYUSH treatment expenses
    • Ambulance Cover: The charges of road ambulance for COVID-19 treatment are also covered

    The fixed benefit payout can also be used for incidental expenses.

    What’s not covered under SBI Corona Rakshak Policy?

    Now coming to what’s excluded from your health insurance -

    • Expenses related to hospital admission for evaluation and diagnostics purposes
    • You cannot file a claim for expenses incurred on diagnostic procedures and the expenses that are non-incidental to the current treatment or diagnosis
    • Claims are not accepted for COVID testing done at any other Centres other than the ones that are recognized by the Government
    • Any claim filed during the waiting period shall not be valid
    • If the insured has a travel history to the nations put under travel restrictions by the Government of India then the claim will not be accepted
