The National Scheme on Welfare of Fishermen came into action to support registered fishermen and their families with housing, insurance, and other related benefits. While there are many government life insurance schemes, there’s a need for more hyper-specific plans and policies. The Welfare of Fishermen Scheme is one of such specific schemes. It is a coordinated effort between the central and state governments as part of a wider government scheme implementation programme. It is aimed at supporting fishing communities under defined eligibility and scheme guidelines.
