How Are Bank of Baroda FCNR Rates Determined?

The FCNR(B) rates offered by Bank of Baroda are dependent on the currency, deposit amount and tenor of the deposit. For eligible FCNR(B) deposits, the bank offers deposits in USD, GBP, EUR, AUD and CAD. FCNR rates are different from bank to bank and may change for different currencies and fixed deposit terms and can be altered from time to time.

Key Features of Bank of Baroda FCNR(B) Deposits

Bank of Baroda FCNR(B) deposits offer several features, including repatriation of funds, nomination facility and flexible account options. Below are the key features.

  • Security for Your Money: The deposit provides security for the funds held in the BOB FCNR account.
  • Interest Payment: FCNR deposits are accepted for a minimum period of 12 months. Interest is calculated on a 360-day year basis and paid at intervals of 180 days, with interest for the remaining actual days paid thereafter.
  • KYC Requirements: KYC documents are due every 2 years. If not received, it is expected to be converted into Indian rupees after three years from the date of maturity, unless particular instruction is obtained.
  • Premature Withdrawal: No interest is payable if the FCNR(B) deposit is withdrawn before 12 months. The rate is decreased by 1% for deposits of 12 months and above, subject to conditions. The penalties are not applied if the deposit is rolled over for a period greater than the remaining maturity.
  • Tax Benefit: The interest earned on FCNR deposits is free from any income tax liability.
  • Repatriation: The entire funds, including principal and interest, held in a BoB FCNR account can be repatriated.

BOB FD Interest Calculator

You may calculate the maturity amount and the interest earned on the deposit using the Bank of Baroda fixed deposit interest calculator. It is calculated based on the deposit amount, duration and applicable interest rate. The calculator can be used by customers to calculate the maturity value for different amounts and tenures prior to booking an FD. The interest on FCNR(B) deposits is calculated based on 360 days per year and paid at intervals of 180 days each and thereafter for the remaining actual number of days.
