Premature Withdrawal on TNPFIDCL Deposit

TNPFIDCL does not permit any early withdrawals within the initial 3 months of the opening of a fixed deposit. But during this time, in case of the death of a depositor, early withdrawal is allowed without interest payment.

In case of withdrawal after 3 months, the interest charged will vary based on the deposit tenure completed:

  • 3 to 6 months: No interest is paid.
  • 6 to 12 months: Interest is paid at 3% p.a. below the applicable 12-month FD rate.
  • 12 to 24 months: Interest is paid at 2% p.a. below the applicable 12-month FD rate.
  • 24 to 36 months: Interest is paid at 2% p.a. below the applicable 24-month FD rate.
  • After 36 months but before maturity: Interest is paid at 2% p.a. below the applicable 36-month FD rate.

Additionally, TNPFIDCL requires 15 days' notice for premature withdrawal of deposits below ₹1 crore and one month's notice for deposits exceeding ₹1 crore. For jointly held deposits, the surviving depositor(s) must submit a requisition letter to process the premature withdrawal.

Loan Against TNPFIDCL Fixed Deposit

TNPFIDCL can offer a loan facility on eligible fixed deposits. This helps depositors get money without closing their investment early.

The loan facility has some common features that include:

  • Loan of up to 70% of the fixed deposit amount.
  • The loan can be availed after 3 months from the deposit date.
  • The applicable loan interest rate is 2% higher than the interest rate payable on the fixed deposit.
  • The fixed deposit is kept active until the loan and its interest are repaid in full.
