Reasons to Buy Sonalika Insurance Policy

Some of the common reasons to buy a Sonalika insurance are:

  • It is a legal obligation as per the Indian Motor Laws to have at least a liability-only policy.
  • Sonalika insurance covers third-party liabilities, and comprehensive insurance also covers damages caused to your own vehicle.
  • An insurance policy provides you with financial back-up as well as mental peace as the insurer covers any liabilities caused due to any unforeseen circumstance.

Types of Sonalika Insurance Policy

There are two types of insurance policies available which are mentioned below:

  • Third-Party Insurance: Policyholders must mandatorily have at least a third party commercial vehicle insurance to secure their Sonalika vehicles as it is a legal mandate. This type of insurance only offers coverage against losses caused to a third party person and property.
  • Comprehensive Insurance: This type of insurance is not legally mandatory but is a popular choice as it provides extended coverage. Comprehensive insurance covers third party liabilities as well as own damages incurred by the insured vehicle. Apart from standard coverage, comprehensive insurance also offers various add-ons to further enhance the protection at an additional premium.

Sonalika Insurance Policy Coverage

The following damages are covered under the Sonalika Insurance:

  • Third party damages
  • Third party legal liabilities
  • Damages caused due to collisions and road accidents
  • Any loss incurred due to man-made disasters
  • Any damage caused due to natural calamities
  • Losses and damages caused by fire, lightning, and self-ignition
  • Damages incurred due to housebreaking, burglary, or theft
  • A mandatory PA (Personal Accident) cover for the owner-driver of at least ₹15 lakhs

The following damages are not covered under a Sonalika insurance policy:

  • Damages incurred due to a breach of law
  • All consequential losses and damages due to existing conditions
  • Losses or damages incurred if the driver is intoxicated or without a valid driving license
  • All intentional damages
  • Damages incurred due to war-like situations
  • Losses incurred due to nuclear weapon material or radioactivity

*Disclaimer: The exact list of coverage will be mentioned on your policy wording and varies from insurer to insurer.

Sonalika Insurance Policy Add-Ons

You can include the following add-ons to increase the coverage of your Sonalika commercial vehicle insurance:

  • Zero Dep Cover: All accidental claims are paid after deducting the depreciation cost as per the age of the vehicle. The zero depreciation add-on cover helps the policyholder to avoid the depreciation cost and get a better claim amount.
  • IMT 23: Damages caused to parts like tyres, tubes, lamps, bonnet, side parts, etc., are not covered under a standard comprehensive insurance. IMT 23 helps you cover losses caused to the uninsured parts after deducting the depreciation costs in case of an accidental claim.
  • Accessories Cover: Damages caused to all additionally-fitted electrical and non-electrical accessories that are not listed under the manufacturer's initial selling price are covered under this add-on. This add-on covers damages caused to parts such as fog lamps, dashcam, etc.
