Who is an In-House Counsel?

An in-house counsel is a lawyer employed directly by a corporation or organisation to provide legal advice and services. Unlike attorneys at a law firm who serve multiple clients, an in-house counsel has only one client: their employer. Their scope of responsibility is broad, encompassing all legal matters affecting the business. This includes contract negotiation, corporate governance, employment law, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation management. They act as the company's first line of legal defense and a key advisor on strategic initiatives.
