Types of United India Commercial Vehicle Insurance

United India Insurance Company Limited offers the following two types of commercial vehicle insurance policies in India:

  • Third-Party Commercial Vehicle Insurance: This type of insurance is also known as a liability-only policy. A third-party commercial vehicle insurance only offers protection against third party liabilities, such as person or property damage. It covers all legal liabilities and is also a mandatory insurance policy as per the Indian Motor Vehicle Act. It does not offer any coverage for damages caused to the insured vehicle.
  • Comprehensive Commercial Vehicle Insurance: A comprehensive commercial vehicle insurance offers protection against third-party liabilities as well as damages caused to the insured vehicle. Policyholders can also include optional add-on covers to increase the coverage of a standard comprehensive insurance.

  • Any consequential losses

United India Commercial Vehicle Insurance Add-Ons

The company also offers the following add-ons to increase the coverage of a standard commercial vehicle insurance at an additional premium:

  • Zero Dep Add-On: This add-on ensures that commercial vehicle insurance companies do not deduct depreciation from the repaired or replaced parts as per the age of the vehicle. The insurer will cover 100% costs except for tyres, tubes and battery costs that are covered at 50%.
  • IMT 23: The add-on helps policyholders to protect uninsured parts, such as tyres, tubes, lamps, bonnet, mudguards, bonnet, side parts bumpers, headlights and paintwork of damaged portions. It covers damages caused to these parts, after deducting the depreciation costs.
  • Accessories Cover: This add-on offers coverage against additionally-fitted electrical and non-electrical accessories, such as fog lamps, music system, monitors, seat covers, etc., which are not a part of the manufacturer's initial selling point.
