What is Canara Bank NPS Calculator?

The Canara Bank NPS calculator is an online tool designed to calculate the retirement corpus and pension amount that a subscriber may get under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). It considers factors such as the amount of contributions, amount of time invested, the expected rate of return, how the annuity is allocated, and the expected rate of return on the annuity to calculate projected retirement savings. Ultimately, it gives a rough idea of how regular investments can help you achieve growth, which aids you in your retirement planning. The returns calculated here will, however, be based on market performance and are therefore indicative and not guaranteed of the actual NPS returns.

Canara Bank NPS Calculator Formula

The Canara Bank NPS calculator helps to calculate the retirement corpus using the monthly contribution, expected rate of return and investment period.

NPS calculation formula (Future Value of Monthly Contributions) is as follows-

FV = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i)

Where:

  • FV = Estimated retirement corpus
  • P = Monthly contribution
  • i = Monthly expected rate of return (Expected annual rate of return ÷ 12)
  • n = Total number of monthly contributions
The NPS calculator works on the basis of the following formula
FV = P (1 + r/n) ^ nt
Here,
FV
Final Value
P
Principal Sum
r
Rate of interest per annum
n
Total number of times the interest compounds
t
Tenure

NPS Illustration

Suppose a 30-year-old subscriber contributes ₹5,000 every month to an NPS account until the age of 60. Assuming an annual return of 10% and an annuity rate of 6% at retirement, the estimated retirement benefits would be as follows:

Particulars Estimated Value
Monthly Contribution ₹5,000
Investment Period 30 years
Total Contribution ₹18 lakh
Estimated Retirement Corpus Approximately ₹1.13 crore
Lump Sum Withdrawal (up to 80%)  Approximately ₹90.4 lakh
Amount Used for Annuity (at least 20%)  Approximately ₹22.6 lakh
Estimated Monthly Pension  Approximately ₹11,300

The above calculation assumes a non-government (All Citizen Model) subscriber under PFRDA's exit rules effective December 2025, applicable where the corpus exceeds ₹12 lakh; smaller corpuses and government-sector subscribers follow different withdrawal structures.

The calculation is for illustration purposes only. The real NPS returns and pension values can change with the market performance, asset allocation, Pension Fund Manager, and the current rate of annuity on retirement.
