Parenting Skills for Every Stage

1. Newborn Stage

   The first two months are known as the newborn stage of a child. At this stage, a newborn becomes capable of reacting to voices or sounds. This period is considered to be the most crucial age for the child development. Therefore, the parents need to establish a close relationship with the newborn child through skin-to-skin contact. In addition, a newborn child needs more sleep during this period. 

   This is because, at this age, his mental and physical development proceeds rapidly. Therefore, the parents must take care of the sleep of the child. Additionally, they should also avoid creating any noise which may disturb his sleep. 

   

2. Infant State

   The infant stage of parenting starts when the child is 2 months old and ends when he is one year old. At this stage, the physical growth and development of the child proceed rapidly. The child at this stage can put his hand, feet and even an object in the mouth. He is capable of recognising faces and responding to his name when someone calls. Therefore, the parents must keep dirty objects far from the reach of the child as it may affect his health if he puts the same in his mouth.

3. Toddler Stage

   The toddler stage starts after the infant age and ends when the child becomes 3 years old. Socialising starts at this age. The child is expected to move away from the parents. However, they make sure that the parents are present. They try to connect with other children and join them by playing with them in several kinds of games. The kid also starts showing affection when people are hurt or upset and looks upward to the parent to understand how they react in a situation. 

   At this stage, the parents must react calmly to a situation and avoid being aggressive over petty things. They should teach the child to avoid becoming friends with the wrong people. In short, they should keep away the child from the wrong fellowship. 

4. Pre-School Stage

   This stage starts when the child becomes 3 years old and ends when he is 5 years old. At this stage, the physical strength of a child grows and he becomes capable of throwing and catching a ball. He can run, jump and dress himself during this stage. 

   At this stage, the parents must teach the child to learn, recognise and differentiate between good and bad people. This helps the child to tackle or avoid such things which can impact him negatively. 

5. School-Age Stage

   This stage starts when child become 5 years old and goes on till he completes his school. The parents at this stage must enroll their child in a reputed and recognised school. He may not score good marks or stand to fail in the exam. The parents should boost his self-esteem and encourage him to score good marks. Additionally, they should guide the child to wake up and worship early in the morning.

Every stage plays a crucial role in the life of the child. Therefore, the parents should adapt to different parenting styles at every stage to better take care of the child. They should spend more time with the child during the aforementioned stage and teach the child good manners. The parents should act calmy in front of the child and inculcate good manner.
