How to Apply for an Education Loan in Ahmedabad

The route below applies to most of the lenders in Ahmedabad.

  • List the schemes that match the course and note the margin, collateral and rate terms of each.
  • Fill the application form on the lender's website or at a branch, or register on the PM-Vidyalaxmi portal if the institution is covered.
  • Submit proof of admission, fee structure, academic documents and income documents of the co-borrower.
  • Value the property fully and perform legal checks when the scheme you chose requires collateral.
  • After sanction and completion of the lender's formalities, the education loan is disbursed according to the approved terms, fee schedule and applicable requirements.

Repayment Tenure and Moratorium Period

Most of the bank plans have an education loan payback length of upto 15 years excluding the moratorium period. The moratorium normally covers the course time plus a certain grace period that varies per lender. You may earn interest on it during this time, depending on the arrangement. Once the moratorium period ends, borrowers pay back the loan in equivalent monthly instalments (EMIs). You can use an Education Loan EMI Calculator to estimate your monthly payments and compare repayment choices.
