It is a convenient and safe method to update data, obtain documents and handle Aadhaar-related requests via your mobile phone without visiting an enrolling facility requiring only a registered mobile number for OTP-based access.

About the UMANG App

Launched in November 2017 under the Digital India programme, UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is developed and operated by NeGD (National e-Governance Division) under MeitY. Key features of the UMANG include the following:

• Hosts over 1,700 government services across sectors, including education, health, agriculture, housing, and finance.

• Available in 23 Indian languages on Android, iOS, and Webportal.

• Accessible via app, web portal (https://web.umang.gov.in/landing/department/aadhaar.html), via Email (help@uidai.gov.in), or call on 011-2346689.

• The official working hours remain Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

• Supports DigiLocker integration for document access.

• Allows 24x7 access to services without any intermediary or physical visit.

Aadhaar Services Available on Umang App

My Aadhaar through the UMANG app provides a consolidated set of self-service tools for Aadhaar management. All services require a mobile number linked to Aadhaar for OTP authentication. Services are grouped under the following categories:

• Enrolment Services: Helps residents in locating the closest Aadhaar Seva Kendra as well as checking the real-time status of enrolling and updating request processes. Includes services such as Locate Enrolment Centre, Check Aadhaar Status, and Check Update Status.

• Aadhaar Download Services: Helps residents in downloading their Aadhaar certificate in the form of a digitally signed e-Aadhaar document or ordering an Aadhaar card of durable PVC for Rs. 50 which is a valid identity proof under the Aadhaar Act, 2016. Download e-Aadhaar, order a PVC Aadhaar card, track PVC card order status, generate Offline e-KYC, and generate/retrieve VID are some of the services offered under this head.

• Verification Services: Assist citizens in verifying if their Aadhaar number is valid or not, verification of email and mobile number linking, and checking the full history of all the authentication processes to detect any malicious activities. These include services such as verify the Aadhaar number, verify email/mobile number linking, track the history of authentication processes and status of linking a bank account, retrieve Aadhaar number or Enrolment ID (EID).

• General Services: Assist in carrying out the basic functions regarding their Aadhaar, like updating address and locking/unlock biometric.

• Complaint Services: Residents can lodge their complaints on any issues faced while enrolling, updating or authenticating their Aadhaar numbers.

How to Access My Aadhaar on UMANG?

The UMANG app is available on Android and iOS and does not require a separate registration beyond the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Apart from it, the services can be accessed through the My Aadhaar or UMANG web application as well.

Via UMANG App:

The UMANG app is the mobile application service for availing of My Aadhaar services.

• Download UMANG app from Google Play Store / Apple App Store

• Register via mobile number and verify via OTP

• Log in using your MPIN or registered password.

• Search "My Aadhaar" via search bar of UMANG app or browse within MeitY/UIDAI

• Choose desired service (Example: Download e-Aadhaar / Biometric Lock)

• Enter 12-digit Aadhaar number and complete captcha verification, if prompted.

• Verify via OTP

• Proceed with the desired service related to the Aadhaar card

Via UMANG Web Portal:

• Log in using your Aadhaar number or other supported identifier and complete OTP verification.
