Term Plans
The National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources developed by IIT Kharagpur under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, through the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Launched nationally on June 19, 2018, NDLI aggregates over 115+ million digital resources from Indian and international sources, accessible free of cost at ndl.gov.in.
NDLI is built around specific access and equity goals for learners across all educational levels in India.
Provide single-window access to freely available and institutionally contributed learning resources without any subscription fee
Support learners across all academic levels, including school students, undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and lifelong learners across all disciplines
Enable multilingual content discovery aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020
Facilitate examination preparatory resources for school and college students and job aspirants through user group-specific services
Provide Institutional Digital Repository (IDR) services to academic institutions for managing and sharing their own research output
Ensure accessibility for differently-abled learners through audio resources and Braille-compatible materials in select collections
Term Plans
NDLI provides eight distinct service categories, each designed for a specific learning or research need. The table below covers each service with its focus area:

NDLI is accessible through its dedicated web portal, the standalone NDLI app, and the UMANG platform. Basic browsing can be done without creating an account, but complete access to all the resources is possible only by creating a free account.

Schools, colleges, universities, libraries, and other educational institutions can register as an NDLI Club to promote reading, learning, and academic engagement among students and faculty. Once registered, institutions can organise reading activities, workshops, quizzes, webinars, and other learning events through the NDLI Club platform.
Steps to Register an NDLI Club:
Visit the NDLI Club registration portal.
Click Register and choose the institution registration option.
Enter the required details, including the institution name, coordinator details, email ID, and contact information.
Submit the registration form and complete the verification process.
After approval, the institution receives access to the NDLI Club dashboard, where it can manage members and organise learning activities.
Note: NDLI Club registration is meant for institutions. Individual users only need a free NDLI account to access the digital library and do not need to register for an NDLI Club.
