The government has carried out the PM Gram Sadak Yojana in three main phases:
Phase I: The focus was on building new roads to connect villages that had no road access.
Phase II: The government improved and upgraded existing rural roads to make them stronger and better.
Phase III: The aim is to connect villages with important places like markets, schools, and hospitals.
Progress So Far: Over the years, the scheme has connected many villages with all-weather roads. This has made travel easier and helped people reach schools, hospitals, and markets without difficulty.
PMGSY full form is PM Gram Sadak Yojana. It is a government programme that is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development to extend the all-weather road infrastructure to isolated rural areas. The areas that are isolated based on population density are identified, and the implementation is carried out by the authorities under the guidelines. After the roads are laid, the management and maintenance are also taken care of under the guidelines.
