In a bid to safeguard more people against coronavirus, the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has asked insurance companies to consider giving renewal discounts to people who have taken all three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The suggestion comes amidst a surge in COVID-19 cases in several countries.
*All savings are provided by the insurer as per the IRDAI approved insurance plan. Standard T&C Apply
*Tax benefit is subject to changes in tax laws. Standard T&C Apply
Who would you like to insure?
The IRDAI has asked health insurance providers to provide incentives to policyholders who get their RT-PCR tests done through the insurer’s network. It also asked them to promote COVID-appropriate behaviour amongst people through their social media.
Besides, the insurance regulator has also asked insurers to reduce COVID-related paperwork and settle such claims at the earliest.
Moreover, it has also asked insurers to ensure that no deposits for COVID-19 hospitalization are taken by their network hospitals this time as was the case during the first and second waves of COVID-19 despite cashless treatment facilities.
In addition, IRDAI has also asked insurance companies to create a war room for COVID-related assistance to everyone in case the situation worsens. It has also directed them to report all COVID-related data in a set format to avoid any discrepancies.
In exchange, insurance companies have requested the IRDAI to set up a standard treatment protocol so that chances of fraud are minimized.
