      Cashless Treatment at Any Hospital of Your Choice

      The ‘Cashless Everywhere’ initiative allows customers to avail 100% cashless treatment at any hospital of their choice in India. Under this new initiative, the insurance company pays the customer’s medical bills directly to the hospital, regardless of whether the customer was admitted to a network or non-network hospital.

      As per previous norms, cashless treatment was available to customers only at a network hospital of their insurance provider. If the treatment were taken at a non-network hospital, customers would have to settle the hospital bills on their own and file a reimbursement claim with their insurer later. With the ‘Cashless Everywhere’ facility, the insurance company will pay the hospital bill even at a non-network hospital, ensuring cashless treatment for all.

      Besides, the ‘Cashless Everywhere’ initiative is expected to reduce claim frauds and, in turn, lower the claim costs of the insurance companies. Moreover, it will ensure seamless medical assistance to the insured customer and eliminate the hassle of reimbursement claims.

      How Does ‘Cashless Everywhere’ Facility Work?

      To avail the ‘Cashless Everywhere’ facility, health insurance customers must inform the insurance company about their hospitalization within the specified time frame. For planned hospitalization, the customer must inform the insurer at least 48 hours before getting admitted to the hospital. In case of emergency hospitalization, the insurer must be informed about the hospital admission within 48 hours.

      However, the GIC reiterated that the claim is admissible as per the terms & conditions of the health policy, and the cashless facility will be admissible as per the insurer’s operating guidelines.
