Since only 49% of hospitals have a cashless facility, the IRDAI hopes to expand and streamline the process for health insurance claim settlement through the above implementations.
The General Insurance Council has also created a committee to enforce a shared hospital empanelment system. Additionally, the method of formulating a standard on-boarding price for hospitals by insurers is in the works. It is hoped that the introduction of an entirely cashless health insurance claim settlement system will also be created along with the creation of a shared cashless network.
Through all of the above measures, the General Insurance Council hopes to restore the trust and confidence of policyholders. They also hope such measures will increase the equal access of policyholders to hospitals, regardless of the insurance provider.
