Star Health Insurance policy for Diabetes can be purchased by individuals between the age group of 18years and 65 years who already have Diabetes Mellitus.

Features of Star Diabetes Safe Insurance Policy

  • Pre-medical Screening- This policy is available in two plan variants i.e. Plan A and Plan B.– Pre-medical examination is required under Plan A. On the other hand, pre-medical screening is not required under Plan B
  • Flexible Policy Options- The coverage is available on both individual and family floater basis
  • Sum Insured Amount- The coverage amount ranges from Rs 3 Lakh, Rs 4 Lakh, Rs 5 Lakh, to Rs 10 Lakh
  • Waiting Period Benefits- The best part is that there is no waiting period for diabetes and its related complications under Plan A. However, there is a waiting period of 12 months under Plan B
  • Guaranteed Lifetime Renewals- This Star health insurance policy offers lifetime renewal for insured members above the age of 65 years
  • Grace Period for renewal: The insurer provides a grace period of 30 days from the policy expiry date
  • Free Look Period: A free look period of 15 days from the policy purchase date is provided to review the policy benefits and decide if you want to continue or terminate the policy

Inclusions of Star Diabetes Safe Insurance Policy

  • Diabetes Cover- The policy covers hospitalization expenses for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and complications related to Diabetes
  • Hospitalization Expenses- Hospitalization required due to diabetes-related complications are covered including nursing and boarding charges, medicines, anaesthetist, surgeon fees, etc.
  • Out-Patient Expenses: Diagnostic tests and medical consultation charges are compensated up to the specified limits
  • Personal Accident Cover: 100% compensation for accidental death is provided for the chosen insured person
  • Day-care procedures cover- All daycare procedures are compensated by the insurer
  • Automatic restoration- Automatic restoration of the entire sum insured is provided during the policy term

Exclusions of Star Diabetes Safe Insurance Policy

  • Any claim arising within the waiting period will not be covered until it is an accidental case
  • Anyone who is on artificial life support, or is in the non-recoverable health condition
  • Any consequential treatment resulting from an aesthetic treatment, any surgery or plastic surgery
  • Any treatment for sexually transmitted diseases
  • Any treatment that is carried out due to mental disorders, physiological illnesses or as a symptom of depressants
  • Illness or damage resulting due to consumption of alcohol, intoxicating drugs or tobacco
  • Medical expenses on routine check-up are not compensated
  • Any gender change surgery is beyond the scope of coverage
  • Expenses incurred on OPD treatment are excluded
  • Cost of medical treatment undertaken overseas
  • Any loss or damage arising due to self-inflicted injuries and suicidal attempts cannot be claimed
  • Any illness or injury resulting due to breach of conduct or law by the policyholder, or with the intentions of war, destruction, crime, rebellion, mutiny, attacks, usage of weapons, detainment is not processed
