In case of an unfortunate event such as the death of the life assured within the policy term, the claimant is eligible to receive the pre-determined sum assured amount. To get the SA amount, the claimant will have to register a claim with the insurer by providing death proof and other important documents and details. 

How to File a TATA Term Insurance Death Claim?  

The claimant should always be aware of the procedures and the documentation needed before filing the death claim. 2 types of death are considered by the insurer under the Tata AIA term insurance claim process: Early & non-early death. Early Death is when the life assured dies within 3 years of the policy tenure, and in other cases, it is a non-early demise. The documents needed for filing the death claim differ between the different insurance companies. 

Steps Involved in Tata AIA Term Insurance Claim Process

Let’s discuss each step involved in the filing process of the Tata AIA Death Claim 

  1. Claim Intimation

    The claimant should inform the insurer about the policyholder’s death as early as possible. The insurance company can be informed about the demise by calling on their helpline number or online by visiting the official website of the insurer. The claimant is required to fill in all the details in the online portal at the ‘Claims’ section. 

  2. Processing of Claim

    In order to initiate the Tata AIA Term insurance claim process, the claimant has to submit claim supporting documents requested by the insurer. The documents required may vary in case of accidental and natural death. The claim assistance team will then verify the documents and other submitted information, evaluate the claim and the declaration of a nominee. 

  3. Settlement of Claims

    Depending on the Tata AIA Term Insurance claim process proceedings, the insurer will notify, if any additional documents are needed. If the requirements are satisfied, the insurer will move towards the claim settlement. The claim benefit will be transferred to the bank account of the nominee. The nominee should make sure to provide the correct details of the bank account and receive the payout timely.

The Tata AIA term insurance claim process via online is easy and quick. The 3 step process is: 

  • Registering and then uploading all the required documents 

  • Verification of documents and processing of a claim 

  • Claim amount disbursal upon the detailed verification

Following are the steps necessary for a nominee to register a death claim online: 

  • Visit the website of Tata AIA. Click on the customer service section and then choose ‘Claim with Ease’. 

  • Then, choose ‘Register online claim’ where the claimant can also check the list of documents required. 

  • In the claim registration section, fill in the information such as the name of the life assured name of the policyholder, death date, claimant’s details, type of claim. 

  • Select ‘Submit Claim Online’

  • Upload all the required documents for settling your claims

List of Documents Required for Tata AIA Term Insurance Claim Process

  • Statement of Claimant 

  • Original documents of the policy

  • Present address proof 

  • Cancelled cheque. Always ensure that the name and account number is printed on the cheque)

  • Bank statement/passbook 

  • Certificate of death issued by a local Municipal Authority 

  • Legal title proof, in case of no nomination such as legal succession certificate 

  • For NRIs Customers 

  • FATCA – Non-individual –self-certification forms 

  • FATCA – Individual –self-certification forms 

Additional Required document on the basis of a cause of death

In case of natural/medical death 

  • Statement of Attending physician 

  • Medical records or reports such as death/discharge summary, admission notes, test reports, indoor case papers, etc.

In case of Unnatural death/Accidental death 

  • Statement by Attending physician 

  • FIR/Police complaint/Panchanama Report 

  • Post mortem report copy 

  • Copy of FPIR (Final Police Investigation Report)/Charge sheet 

Along with the above-mentioned documents, it is also mandatory to submit the accidental death claim records issued by the insurer for a road accident claim in India.
