Who would you like to insure?
In a welcoming decision, the insurance company has decided to reduce the health insurance waiting period for pre-existing diseases and specific diseases to 1 year. With this decision, the health insurance provider will now offer the lowest waiting period in the industry.
As per the statement, the health insurance waiting periods have been reduced to ensure that more customers can file hospitalization claims for pre-existing diseases and specific illnesses. Since treatment for most specific illnesses is expensive, a reduction in waiting period will enable more people to access quality healthcare services in the hour of need.
Generally, health insurance plans cover pre-existing diseases after a waiting period of 2 to 4 years. Similarly, specific illnesses, such as arthritis, ovarian cyst, cataract, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis, etc. are covered after a waiting period of 2 years.
Although the waiting period for Digit health insurance plans may have been reduced, people may still have to undergo pre-policy medical check-ups before buying a policy. The medical check-up will be required on a case-to-case basis.
Moreover, it will be essential to declare all pre-existing diseases at the time of Digit health insurance policy purchase to benefit from the lower waiting period. If a policyholder fails to declare pre-existing diseases or symptoms while buying, the insurance company can reject the claim.
