    • Age: Young applicants are considered to be less vulnerable to critical ailments. This means that your insurance premium will be lower for young people and it increases with the age.
    • Pre-Existing Health Ailments: Before buying a critical illness policy you need to undergo a pre-medical check up to ascertain your pre-existing medical conditions. Pre-existing ailments are not covered unless specified or you would need to pay extra premium to get it covered.
    • Family Medical History: Applicants with a family history if critical illnesses will be charged a higher premium. As they are more vulnerable of being diagnosed with any such illness, as it genetically puts you at risk.
    • Body Mass Index/BMI: As per medical studies, people with a higher BMI are more likely to suffer from critical illnesses. That is why BMI is an important factor in determining the premium.
    • Lifestyle Habits: People who have a habit of smoking tobacco or snuffing or chewing tobacco are more susceptible to critical ailments like mouth cancer, kidney failure and other ailments. And usually charged and denied premium.
    • Work Environment & Profession: People who work in hazardous environments involving hazardous substances, radiation or chemicals will have to pay a higher premium as compared to those working in cleaner environments.
    • Firs-time Buyers: If you buying a health insurance policy for the first time then chances are that you will be charged with a higher premium amount. If you already have health insurance then you can avail No-Claim Bonus benefit if you have not filed a claim during the policy term
