    The policy covers the expenses that one may incur to obtain treatment after contracting COVID-19. To reap its benefits, the insured person should get a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 in an Indian Government authorized diagnostic center and get treated at a specialized hospital that has been allotted by the Government for COVID treatment.

    The Corona-Rakshak Health Insurance by Oriental Health Insurance is available for an individual only. The complete details of the insured person should be furnished.

    The Corona Rakshak insurance policy by Oriental Insurance company covers a sum of Rs 50,000 to Rs 2,50,000 on an individual basis.

    The lump sum benefit equal to 100% of the sum insured, which is payable when diagnosed positive for COVID-19 and hospitalized for a minimum continuous period of 72 hours, is covered when Corona Rakshak health insurance is purchased.

    The basic coverage offered for the plan includes in-patient treatment. It refers to hospitalization where the insured person needs to stay in a government-designated hospital for COVID-19 treatment for a minimum time period of 72 hours consecutively.

    The person should be diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in a government authorized diagnostic center.

    Inclusions of the Plan

    Apart from the above-mentioned health covers offered by the Corona Rakshak Policy-Oriental Insurance health insurance, the plan provides a one-time lump sum benefit that is applicable for the entire tenure of the policy.

    It shall terminate once the payment of this benefit is complete.

    The insured person needs to stay for a continuous period of 72 hours in a hospital designated for COVID-19 treatment by the Government.

    Exclusions of the Plan

    The company is not liable to any payments under the Corona-Rakshak Policy-Oriental Insurance in case of any expenses incurred in connection to or in respect of:

    • Investigation and evaluation
    • Any other diagnostic expenses not related to or incidental in the current diagnosis and treatment
    • The policy does not cover any diagnosis unrelated or not incidental to COVID-19.
    • In case the testing for the diagnosis of COVID-19 is not done at a hospital authorized by the Government, the policy will not be liable to cover the expenses.
    • If any expense is incurred before the commencement of the policy or during the waiting period, the company will not reimburse the same.
    • Contracting coronavirus while travelling to any country, which has been placed by the Indian Government under travel restrictions.

    Features and Benefits of the Corona Rakshak Policy- Oriental Insurance

    The list of the salient features and benefits of the Corona Rakshak Policy-Oriental insurance policy are given below-

    • There is a waiting period of 15 days from the first policy commencement date.
    • A 100% lump sum benefit is covered of the sum insured on testing positive for COVID-19.
    • A minimum of 72 hours of hospitalization in a government-designated hospital for COVID treatment is a necessity.
    • There are no deductibles in this policy.
    • A sum insured of Rs 50,000 to Rs 2.5 lakhs, in the multiples of Rs 50,000 is available only on an individual basis.
    • The term of the policy is three and a half months, six and a half months, and nine and a half months, including the waiting period.

    Cancellation of the Corona Rakshak Policy- Oriental Insurance

    The company is liable to cancel the Corona Rakshak Policy-Oriental Insurance on the following grounds at any time-

    • Any misinterpretation
    • Non-disclosure of material facts
    • If the insured person commits fraud
    • A 7-days' written notice is given.
    • If the policy's cancellation occurs due to any of the reasons mentioned above, there will be no refund of the premium.
