How Are Kotak Bank Fixed Deposit Rates Decided?

Kotak Bank revises its published FD rates from time to time based on its deposit pricing. The FD interest rates depend on the period of deposit, quantity of deposit, category of the depositor and type of fixed deposits. The rate given may also vary in case of premature withdrawal.

  • RBI and Market Interest Rates: The bank deposit rates are also affected by the policy rate of the RBI as well as the general structure of interest rates. Kotak Bank maintains the right to change FD rates according to market conditions and financial needs.
  • Senior Citizen Benefit: Senior citizen FD rates include an additional 0.50% p.a. for resident senior citizens aged 60 years and above over the applicable regular FD rate for eligible deposits. This benefit is not applicable to NRO/NRE deposits and certain products such as ActivMoney.
  • Deposit Size, Category and Tenure: The bank offers a different rate schedule for deposits of less than ₹3 crore and has different rates for larger accounts. The fixed deposit interest rates vary with time of maturity. Not all deposits have equal interest rates.
  • Premature withdrawal: On Kotak Bank FD premature withdrawal, the applicable rate is lower than the actual, after applicable penalties. The penalty is nil for deposits of up to 180 days, 0.50% for deposits above 180 days up to 364 days, and 1.00% for deposits of 365 days and above.
