Eligibility Criteria of the Nehru Child Literature Prize Scheme
To avail of the benefits of a scheme, the applicant must adhere to the eligibility criteria. Hence, the eligibility criteria of this scheme are;
The candidate ought to be a writer, author, or co-author.
The candidate must be a native of Puducherry by birth or have lived there continuously for at least five years.
Applicants must submit texts that are intended to be produced and released as a first edition by December 31 of the specified year.
A recipient of a one-time prize is not entitled to apply again for four years.
Paraphrasing, translating, modification, or abridgment of another text is not permitted for submission to the competition.
This prize does not apply to essays or thesis submitted for a university degree or test.
Texts created for the syllabus are not eligible to compete for prizes.
Children's books must be published in Tamil and should not exceed 120 pages.
Submissions of foundation lectures, other lectures, serials published in journals, etc., will not be accepted.
The application should cover genres written for children's Literature, such as novels, short tales, poetry, plays, travelogues, essay collections, etc.
How to Apply for the Nehru Child Literature Prize Scheme
The application process for the scheme is straightforward:
During regular business hours, the prospective candidate should go to the Department of Art and Culture and ask to pick up a physical copy of the application form in the format specified by the staff members who are solely responsible for issuing and gathering completed forms.
Complete all relevant fields on the application form, attach copies of the applicable documentation (self-attestation requested if necessary), and paste the passport-sized photo (signed across, if needed).
Send the application form, duly completed and signed, to the superintendent of the Department of Art & Culture at No. 1, Roman Roland Road, Puducherry 605 001, together with the necessary documentation.
Ask the superintendent who received the application for a receipt or acknowledgement. Make sure the receipt has all the pertinent information on it, including the submission date and time and, if necessary, a unique identification number.
