In a move to cover about 1 crore people who are not covered under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 'SEHAT' health insurance scheme in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on December 26, 2020. At present, only 30 lakh people in J&K are covered under the PMJAY scheme.

Jammu and Kashmir will be the first in India to achieve Universal Health Coverage with the launch of SEHAT' Health Insurance Scheme by the Prime Minister this month.
Meanwhile, Atal Dulloo, Jammu and Kashmir Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, reviewed arrangements put in place for effective set up of Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme in J&K by PM Modi.
As on date there have been 16 Lakh registrations and the registrations for the remaining beneficiaries is in progress. On the same day, the Programmes will be organized across the UT and the distribution of Golden cards will commence.
