In a move to cover the population of 1 Crore that could not be covered under Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 'SEHAT' - Health Insurance Scheme for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on December 26,2020. At present, 30 lakh people are covered under PMJAY scheme in Jammu and Kashmir. The eligible beneficiaries under Ayuhsman Bharat Scheme were given a cover of 5 Lakh.

Jammu and Kashmir will be the first in India to achieve Universal Health Coverage with the launch of SEHAT' Health Insurance Scheme by the Prime Minister this month.
Meanwhile, Atal Dulloo, Jammu and Kashmir Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, reviewed arrangements put in place for effective set up of Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme in J&K by PM Modi.
As on date there have been 16 Lakh registrations and the registrations for the remaining beneficiaries is in progress. On the same day, the Programmes will be organized across the UT and the distribution of Golden cards will commence.
