      COVID-19 Health Advisory by IMA

Some of the major countries across the world, including the USA, France, Japan, Brazil and South Korea, have reported about 5.37 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. While India has reported 141 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, four cases of the new BF.7 China variant have also been reported.

Although the IMA called the current COVID-19 situation non-alarming, it has asserted citizens to take precautionary measures that include the following:

      • Use face masks at all public places
      • Maintain social distancing
      • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use alcohol-based sanitizers
      • Avoid public gatherings, such as marriages, social or political meetings, concerts, etc.
      • Avoid travelling outside India
      • Consult a doctor in case of COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, etc.
      • Get the precautionary dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, if you haven’t

The IMA has also asked the government to upscale its preparedness to combat the disease by increasing the availability of oxygen cylinders, emergency medicines and ambulance services.

However, the apex medical body believes that India will be able to manage any sudden surge in COVID-19 cases effectively with the help of dedicated medical manpower, robust public & private infrastructure, availability of sufficient medicines & vaccines and proactive measures taken by the government.
