Edelweiss health insurance provides critical illness cover in their Gold and Platinum plan. In the silver plan, you can buy this as an add-on cover. Most health insurance plans provide critical illness treatment cover as an optional benefit or add-on. But with Edelweiss health insurance you can get coverage in the base health plan as well.

  • Edelweiss health insurance plans cover everyone above the age of 3 months
  • Under the Edelweiss health insurance plan, you can cover yourself, your spouse, and up to 3 children. You can also cover other relationships of insurable interest to you
  • Edelweiss platinum plan provides health insurance cover up to Rs 1 Crore ensuring maximum protection possible
  • The policy also offers restoration benefits i.e. it tops it up by 100%. It means that your sum insured gets doubled
  • Critical Illness cover is provided from the first time you are diagnosed with a critical illness.
  • The maximum applicable limits for different policy variants are as follows:  Silver plan- critical illness cover is not applicable and you can get it as an add-on, in Gold critical illness plan you get 50% of the sum insured, and in the Platinum plan the limit is up to 100% of the Sum insured
  • In all the health insurance plans there is No Capping on the ICU charges
  • Along with critical illness benefit, you also get domiciliary hospitalization cover up to the sum insured

Edelweiss Health Insurance Company indemnifies the insured/policyholder through reimbursement/cashless facility up to the sum insured. In the Edelweiss Critical illness plans the coverage provided is subjected to the following conditions:

  1. The Insured Person is diagnosed with a critical illness for the first time during the policy term
  2. Edelweiss Critical Illness policy includes first heart attack or Myocardial Infarction, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (Open Chest CABG Cancer of Specified Severity), permanent paralysis of limbs, and Stroke leading to permanent symptoms
  3. Please note that if the additional critical illness sum insured is not utilized during the policy term then it won’t be carried forward to the next policy term
  4. Edelweiss health insurance policy shall not provide critical illness cover if:
  5. The Insured Person is diagnosed with a Critical Illness within 90 days of the policy commencement date and if the insured has been covered under a policy continuously without any interruption
  6. If the insured person has already filed a critical illness claim
