SBI Hospital Daily Cash Insurance Policy
The plan offers you daily benefits on hospitalization and this is regardless of the actual hospital expenses. You get additional cover and all the extra expenditure on food, traveling is also compensated, which is not included in the basic SBI medical insurance plan. - Entry age is 18 to 65 years. If both the parents are also covered, then children from the age of 3 months are also covered.

Benefits of Hospital Daily Cash Insurance Plan
The plan comes with a range of benefits. You can avail the following benefits on per day basis if you buy this plan:
- Daily cash benefit of hospitalization: up to INR2,000 per day
- Daily cash benefit of ICU hospitalization: up to Rs.4,000 per day
- In case of accidental hospitalization the daily cash benefit limit is up to Rs.4,000 per day
- This plan also covers convalescence expenses and the fixed coverage amount is Rs.5000
- The entry age limit is between 18 and 65 years. Coverage is provided to children starting from the age of 3 months ( if both the parents are covered in the same plan)
- Flexible Plan options offering a maximum of 30 days and 60 days coverage
- 4 options to choose in terms of daily cash allowance i.e. INR 500, INR 1,000, INR 1,500 and INR 2,000
- The premium that you pay provides tax saving benefits under Sec 80 D of the Income Tax Act
- 15 days of free look period
Inclusions of SBI Hospital Daily Cash Insurance Plan
This plan covers the following medical expenses:
- Daily hospitalization benefits up to Rs. 2000
- ICU hospitalization cover for maximum of 7 days or 15 days per policy period
- Daily cash benefit from accidental hospitalization – up to Rs. 4000
- Convalescence benefit of Rs. 5000 for hospitalization of more than 10 consecutive days
- You can easily get a refund within 15 days of free look period
Exclusions of SBI Hospital Daily Cash Insurance Plan
Any claims arising due to any of the below-mentioned reasons shall be rejected under SBI Hospital Daily Cash Insurance Plan:
- Any disease that is diagnosed, had symptoms or signs or received medical treatment prior to the policy purchase date
- Any disease that is diagnosed, had symptoms or signs or received medical during the first 30 days from the date of policy purchase.
- A waiting period of 90 days from the date of commencement of the policy
- Any alternative treatment like naturopathy, aromatherapy, acupuncture, homeopathic, Ayurveda, reflexology, and osteopath.
- Pregnancy treatment or complications like abortion, miscarriage, childbirth, or any prenatal and postnatal treatment
- Any type of congenital diseases that are diagnosed during or before the policy period
- AIDS/HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
- Self-inflicted injuries and conditions of depression and mental disorders
- Health treatment for drug intoxication and an overdose of alcohol consumption
- Medical expenses incurred on treatment of specific surgeries/diseases such as Hydrocele, Hernia etc. shall be compensated after of 1 year of the waiting period
- Certain diseases like Hysterectomy; cataract shall be covered after completion of 2 years of the policy term.
- Joint replacement surgery shall be covered after completion of 3 years of the policy term ( unless it is an accidental case)
- Hospitalization expenses related to uterine and extrauterine pregnancy, caesarean childbirth, prenatal and postnatal care.
- Treatment for any psychological or psychiatric disorders and also mental disorders

Things to Remember
For adults, the minimum entry age to buy SBI General’s health insurance policy is 18 years. Nevertheless, children above the age of 3 months can also be covered in this plan if both the parents are covered at the same time. The maximum age criteria to buy this policy is 65 years
The maximum cash benefit that is available is Rs. 2,000 on a daily basis. Though, the maximum benefit would be limited to Rs. 500/ day for a maximum period of 30 days for insured members above the age of 60 years and the first time buyers.
Pre-medical screening is not essential for applicants who are lesser than 45 years of age old unless the coverage opted for is for Rs.2000 (irrespective of the medical history). The proposal of the applicants with the following medical condition will be accepted after a satisfactory medical examination as per the insurer’s requirements:
- Insured members with a serious medical history as stated in the proposal form
- Applicants above 60 years ( regardless of the sum insured)
- The cost of pre-medical screening will be borne by the proposer. Though, if the application is accepted SBI General health insurance will recompense 50% of the expenses incurred towards the medical tests (as required by the insurer).
