      What is NORKA Care?

      NORKA Care is a comprehensive plan that provides health and accident insurance coverage to Non-Resident Keralites. It is for people from Kerala between 18 and 70 years of age who are studying, working, or residing abroad as well as their families. It is also available for NRKs residing in other Indian states.

      The scheme was inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan on September 22, 2025. This health insurance policy is valid for one year and can be renewed annually. The insurance under this scheme is provided by the New India Assurance Company Ltd.

      • 60-Day Claim Submission Window: It has an extended window of 60 days to submit claims, meaning the insured can raise a claim up to 60 days after the event occurred.
      • Wide Ambit of Network Hospitals: It allows the insured to receive a cashless treatment at over 14,000 hospitals across India, including more than 500 in Kerala.
      • Global Coverage for Accidental Death: It provides accidental death coverage worldwide.

      What is Covered Under NORKA Care?

      Knowing the NORKA Care insurance details is essential to ensure a clear understanding of what the health insurance plan covers. The NORKA Care includes the following costs associated with emergency and planned medical treatments in India:

      • In-patient Hospitalization: It covers hospitalization charges, including room rent, ICU, and ambulance fees.
      • Pre-Hospitalization: It pays for expenses incurred on doctor visits, pharmacy, etc., up to 30 days prior to hospitalization.
      • Post-Hospitalization: It covers medical expenses incurred up to 60 days after the insured is discharged from the hospital.
      • Ayurvedic Treatment: It pays for in-patient hospitalization expenses incurred on Ayurvedic treatment on a doctor's advice.
      • Major Medical Treatments: It covers major treatments like cataract, cancer & dialysis treatment, and organ transplant.
      • Accidental Death: It provides 100% sum insured along with repatriation costs of ₹25,000 within India and ₹50,000 outside India.
      • Total Permanent Disability: It provides 100% coverage for permanent total disability due to an accident.

      What is the Premium for NORKA Care?

      The NORKA Care health insurance plan cost is as follows:

      • For an Individual Policy: ₹8,101
      • For a Family Floater Policy: ₹13,411
      • Additional Child (Below 25 years): ₹4,130

      Eligibility of NORKA Care

      If you are wondering, is NORKA Care only for Keralites? You are right. It is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind health insurance policy available only for Keralites who do not reside in the state.

      Eligible individuals between the ages of 18 and 70 can sign up for NORKA Care. For a family floater health insurance plan, 2 children up to 25 years can be added. Here is who can apply for the NORKA Care Pravasi health insurance:

      How to Register for NORKA Care?

      Here are the two ways to register for NORKA Care:

      • Individual Registration: Visit the official NORKA website or download their mobile application for NORKA Care registration online.
      • Group Registration: It can be done through NORKA-approved Pravasi organizations.

      Documents Required for NORKA Care Registration

      Now, let us look at what documents are required for NORKA Care health plan registration.

      • NRKs Residing Abroad: They must hold a valid NORKA Pravasi ID Card, visa and passport. They must be residing in a foreign country for at least 6 months.
      • Kerala Students Abroad: They must have a valid NORKA Student ID Card.
      • NRKs in Other Indian States: They must have a valid NRK ID Card.

      *₹400/month is the starting price for ₹ 5 lakh Health insurance for a 30 year old male & 29 years old female, living in Delhi with no pre-existing diseases

      *₹541/month is the starting price for ₹ 10 lakh Health insurance for a 30 year old male & 29 years old female, living in Delhi with no pre-existing diseases

      *₹762/month is the starting price for ₹ 1 Crore Health insurance for a 30 year old male & 29 years old female, living in Delhi with no pre-existing diseases

      *₹243/month(₹ 8/day) is the starting price for a 5 lakh health insurance for a 20-year-old male, non-smoker, living in Bengaluru with no pre-existing diseases

      *₹2020/month is the starting price for ₹ 1 Cr Health insurance for a 50 year old male & 50 years old female, living in Bangalore with no pre-existing diseases rounded off to nearest 10.

      *₹390/month (₹13 per day) is starting price for 1 cr. Health insurance for 25 years old male, with pre-existing diseases, residing from tier 1 city rounded off to the nearest 10.

      *No medical tests are required unless requested by the insurer’s underwriter. In-case of pre-existing diseases relevant medical proof would be required as per the terms and condition of the policy opted.

      *The values taken for effective cost calculation are indicative values and may change as per the selected plan.

      *Coverage upto double the amount of Sum Insured is available on certain covers for a minimum plan of Rs. 5 Lakh on the first claim only to an individual of upto 45 years of age with no pre-existing diseases. The benefit is available with or without extra cost depending on the plan chosen.
