Scope of Coverage 

The basic coverage areas offered under the ManipalCigna Super Top Up plan are:

  • In-patient Hospitalization- Charges for room rent, ICU, nursing, doctor, surgeon, blood, oxygen, operation theatre, and other medical expenses are covered upon the insurer's admission in hospital for more than 24 hours.
  • Pre-Hospitalization- Medical expenses prior to the hospitalization are covered for 60 days.
  • Post-Hospitalization- Medical Expenses incurred post-hospitalization and discharge of the insured are covered for 90 days.
  • AYUSH Cover- In-patient treatment expenses up to the Sum Insured limit towards Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha treatment, and hospitalization in a government hospital are covered.
  • Day Care Treatment- Medical expenses if the insured undergoes treatment or surgery that requires below 24 hours of hospitalization are covered.
  • Donor Expenses- In-patient hospitalization costs of the donor expenses for a major organ transplant are covered.

Inclusions of the ManipalCigna Super Top Up plan

Apart from the basic cover, the ManipalCigna Super Top Up policy offers the following inclusions:

  • Non-Medical Expenses Cover- Costs of non-medical items listed in the policy terms and conditions are covered. The cover is provided as per the conditions specified in the policy document for daycare treatment and in-patient hospitalization.
  • Road Ambulance Cover- Transportation expenses by ambulance to the hospital is covered by the plan under specified limits.
  • Guaranteed Cumulative Bonus- The policy offers a bonus in the form of a guaranteed additional Sum Insured at the time of policy renewal irrespective of any policy claim. The cumulative bonus amount can be up to a maximum of 50% of the Sum Insured.
  • Optional Guaranteed Continuity on Deductible- The policyholder has the option to choose a separate base policy in continuity guaranteed with waiting periods without new risk assessment for Sum Insured up to the deductible amount. This optional cover is available at the time of policy purchase for the policyholders who are 54 years or below.
  • Critical Illness Add-on cover - A lump sum benefit up to the chosen Sum assured in the case of the first diagnosis of the 11 critical illnesses covered. This add-on cover is available with a one or 2-year policy term.

Exclusions of the ManipalCigna Super Top Up plan

The following charges or expenses are excluded from the coverage of ManipalCigna Super Top Up Insurance plan:

  • Diagnostic and evaluation procedures.
  • Rest, cure, and rehabilitation
  • Treatment of obesity or weight loss is not advised by the doctor.
  • Cosmetic surgery or change in the appearance of the insured
  • Treatment of injury due to involvement in hazardous sports, alcohol, or drug abuse.
  • Illnesses treatment incurred due to breach of law or illegal activities.
  • Injury due to foreign invasion, war, revolution, or military attack
  • Treatment expenses due to contamination from nuclear fuel or radioactivity, etc.

Given below are the salient features and benefits of the ManipalCigna Super Top Up health insurance plan:

  • The Sum insured by the plan can be between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 30 lakh
  • Premium savings are available.
  • Lifetime renewals
  • There is a 30-days waiting period for all illnesses.
  • There is a 24-month waiting period for specific ailments.
  • Pre-existing diseases will not be covered for 48 months.
  • Initial 90-days waiting period and 30 day survival period is applicable for Critical Illness Add on Cover.
  • Tax benefits for the premiums paid and benefits received under available tax laws

Minimum Entry Age

Adult: 18 years

Child: 91 days

Maximum Entry Age

Adult: No limit

Child: 23 years (family floater policy)

Number of people covered

Individual: Self, spouse, children, siblings, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, and other relatives of insurable interest

Family floater: Self, spouse, children up to the age of 23 years, or parents. A maximum of 2 adults and 3 children can be covered under a single policy.

Residential Status

Indian Citizens & Permanent Residents

Cancellation of the Policy

Requests for ManipalCigna Super Top Up policy cancellation can be placed during the policy period after giving a 15-day notice. The premium refund will be made for the unexpired policy period calculated as a percentage amount.
