Coverage Offered

One can opt for an Individual or a Family Floater policy to buy ManipalCigna Arogya Sanjeevani Policy and cover the immediate and the extended families. The other coverage offered in the policy is:

  • In-patient Treatment: It covers all the hospitalization expenses for a stay of more than 24 hours.
  • Pre-Hospitalization Expenses: The coverage offered for medical expenses incurred for 30 days before admission to a hospital.
  • Post-Hospitalization Expenses: The coverage offered for medical expenses for 60 days from the discharge date.
  • Day Care Expenses: The policy covers the cost of procedures and surgery, not requiring overnight hospitalization.
  • Modern Treatment and Procedures: The insured is indemnified for technologically advanced therapy, up to 50% of the sum insured.

Other than the primary coverage discussed above, ManipalCigna Health Insurance delivers the following covers:

  • Road Ambulance:  Cost of hiring ambulance for evacuation to the hospital up to Rs 2,000 per hospitalization is covered.
  • Cataract Treatment: Any cataract surgery expenses are covered up to Rs 40,000 or 25% of the sum insured, whichever is lower.  
  • Other Expenses: The cost of dental and plastic surgery needed to treat illness or injury is covered up to the full sum insured.

Exclusions of the Plan

The plan’s exclusions are categorized into permanent and one with waiting period clause.

Waiting Period

  • Initial Period: No illness claims other than accidental injury are admitted up to 30 days from the policy inception.
  • Specific Period: The policy lists a few specific diseases for which the waiting period is 24/48 months.
  • Pre-Existing Disease Period: All pre-existing diseases are covered only after 48 months from the policy inception date. 

Permanent Exclusions

  • Injuries or illnesses caused by drug or substance abuse, alcoholism, and radioactive contamination are not covered in the policy.
  • Injuries or illnesses as a consequence of activities in breach of law are not covered.
  • Injuries resulting from indulging in hazardous sports and activities are also not covered.

Cancellation Terms of the Policy

The insured is free to cancel the policy at any time during the policy term. The refund of the premium will only be on a short-term basis. The insurer can also cancel the contract in case of fraud or misrepresentation, or concealment of medical information by the policyholder.
