      Is It Possible to Reduce the SBI Health Insurance Waiting Period?

      Yes. The waiting period for specific diseases and pre-existing diseases can be reduced from 2 years to 1 year with the Reduction in Specific Disease Waiting Period and Change in PED Waiting Period benefits, respectively, under Health Alpha and Health Super Top-Up plans. Similarly, the maternity waiting period can be reduced to 1 year with the Change in Maternity Expenses Waiting Period under Health Alpha and Health Super Top-Up plans.

      The waiting period for global cover can also be reduced from 2 years to 1 year with the Reduction in Global Cover Waiting Period benefits under the Health Alpha plan. However, these benefits are available on the payment of an additional premium.

      Things to Remember About SBI Health Insurance Waiting Period

      The following things should be remembered about the SBI health insurance waiting period:

      • If an illness or medical condition has been diagnosed after buying the SBI health insurance policy, it will not be considered a pre-existing disease.
      • Policyholders do not need to serve any waiting period to file a claim for accidental injuries under their mediclaim policy.
      • The waiting period for pre-existing diseases, specific diseases, maternity cover and global cover can be reduced in some plans by paying an additional premium.
      • The insured must serve the waiting period and the survival period to claim a critical illness insurance policy.
