      What is ABHA?

ABHA or Ayushman Bharat Health Account is a digital health ID used to store, access and share health records digitally in a safe and seamless manner. It consists of a unique 14-digit number used to identify a person in the digital healthcare infrastructure of India. It also helps to link various healthcare benefits, including government health schemes and personal retail health insurance.

The ABHA number allows people to sign up for Personal Health Records or PHR applications, such as the ABHA app. The PHR applications can be used to store, access and share their personal medical records on consent with other stakeholders within the ecosystem, such as doctors, hospitals, etc. Moreover, an ABHA address is created alongside the ABHA number with the help of an ABDM Consent Manager during ABHA registration.

      Benefits of ABHA Number

Check out the key benefits of ABHA number:

      1. Builds a Unique and Trustable Identity

An ABHA number is used to create a unique and trustable identity of a person accepted by all healthcare providers across the country within the digital healthcare ecosystem.

      2. Unifies Healthcare Benefits

People can link all their health-related benefits, such as retail health insurance and government health insurance schemes, together with their ABHA number.

      3. Seamless Access and Storage of Health Records Digitally

ABHA ID holders can safely store and access their personal medical records digitally on Personal Health Record (PHR) applications to create a long-term digital medical history.

      4. Consent-based Sharing of Health Records

By creating an ABHA number, people can easily share their medical records, like doctor's prescriptions and test reports, on consent with doctors and other stakeholders within the health ecosystem of India in a secure way.

      5. Hassle-free Access to Healthcare Facilities

The ABHA number can be used to register online for a healthcare facility, like a doctor's appointment, across the country instead of standing in long queues.

      6. No Need to Carry Physical Documents

By storing medical records digitally using the ABHA number, people no longer need to carry physical copies of their health records every time they visit a doctor or a hospital.

      How to Download ABHA Card?

People can download their ABHA card either from the ABHA website or the ABHA app. Here are the steps to download an ABHA card:
