    Coverage Offered

    Individual who intend to buy New India Assurance Cancer Guard Policy can apply for an individual cover. 

    The primary coverage offered up to the sum insured limit for the plan is as follows:

    • Major Cancer Treatments and Procedures covered-It covers Conventional Treatments like Chemotherapy, Organ Transplant, Radiotherapy, Onco-surgery. It also covers Advanced Treatments like Proton treatment, immunotherapy and Stem cell and bone marrow transplantation. 
    • In-patient TreatmentExpenses for room rent, boarding, nurse expenses, second opinion for surgeries, ambulance prices (up to 3,000 per hospital) are covered.
    • Pre-hospitalization Cover- This policy offers a waiting period of 90 days. In this period, If the individual has been diagnosed with cancer, the premiums are  reimbursed, and the policy gets canceled. But, in case of renewal, this is not applicable. 
    • Post- hospitalization Cover- Includes post-surgery reconstruction of the affected body part till it attends the essential physical functioning. A posting period follows up of up to Rs 10,000 will be paid once in the period of insurance. 
    • Daycare Treatment- 58 daycare procedures are covered in the policy.
    • Restoration of Sum Insured- The sum insured under the policy will increase by 10% with each renewal. This is in respect of each free claim year of insurance, which is subjected to a maximum of 50% of the Sum policyholder insures.

    Emergency Ambulance Charges- Emergency Ambulance charges are also payable up to Rs 3,000 as per hospitalization in the policy.

    Critical Illness Benefit- Cancer has no exact date of cure. Thus the policy covers any post-treatment follow-up or the reconstruction of any affected body part. It includes the following:

    • Any stage of cancer
    • Bone marrow transplantation
    • Immunotherapy
    • Proton Treatment 
    • Stem cell transplantation 
    • Hormonal Therapy
    • Personalized Therapy
    • Endocrine Manipulation
    • Targeted Therapy

    Exclusions of the Plan

    New India Assurance Cancer Guard Policy does not provide coverage for the following:

    • Any other treatment other than cancer
    • Any pre-existing condition that could lead to cancer 
    • If the individual is diagnosed or contracted with cancer in the initial 90 days
    • Plastic & Cosmetic or Aesthetic Surgery
    • Any non-allopathic treatment 
    • Palliative Care
    • Rest cure or Rehabilitation or Respite care for the individual 
    • Experimental or unproven treatment 
    • Pharmacological regimes

    Features & Benefits of the New India Cancer Guard Health Insurance Policy

    Some of the feature and benefits offered by New India Cancer Guard Health Insurance Policy are listed below:

    • A 90-days waiting period is applicable. 
    • A critical care benefit of 50% of the sum insured is paid along with the acceptable claimed amount.
    • If any insured person is diagnosed with first-time cancer during the period of insurance, and it is in Advanced Metastatic Cancer or Stage IV cancer, the same amount is paid. 
    • Organ donor coverage up to sum insured amount is provided.
    • An amount up to Rs 5,000 is payable to seek advice for surgery from another Medical Practitioner.
    • This premium paid under this policy is eligible for tax rebate under section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961.

    The only rule applicable for cancellation under the New India Cancer Guard Policy New India Cancer Guard Policy is:

    If the individual is diagnosed or contracted with Cancer during the waiting period of 90 days, the premium amount is returned, and the policy is canceled.
