      What is PCOS?

PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, is a common hormonal condition in women that occurs when both ovaries develop many large fluid-filled sacs or cysts. This results in the production of high levels of androgens in the body and a lack of ovulation. PCOS can lead to no menstrual periods or periods that last for many days.

Besides irregular periods and hormonal imbalances, PCOS can also lead to excess hair growth, acne and infertility. Moreover, people with PCOS have a higher chance of developing lifestyle conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Although PCOS cannot be cured, its symptoms can be managed with medicines to prevent health problems.

      What is PCOD?

PCOD, or polycystic ovarian disease, is a common medical condition in women in which the ovaries produce multiple immature or only partially mature eggs. These eggs develop into small cysts over time, leading to swelling of the ovaries and secreting high levels of androgens in the body. PCOD can lead to irregular periods, abdominal weight gain, hair loss and infertility.

Untreated PCOD can lead to chronic diseases like heart diseases, diabetes, obesity and high cholesterol. However, PCOD can be easily managed with a few lifestyle and diet changes.
