HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan: Benefits
The following are the benefits of the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan:
- In-Patient Benefits - The HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan provides the insured with in-patient benefits in case of an accident or illness. The expenses include hospital room boarding or rent, nursing, and ICU fees. The in-patient benefits include the medical practitioner’s fees, diagnostic procedures, and other necessary items required during surgery.
- Recovery Benefits – If the insured is hospitalised continuously for 10 days, he/she is eligible for a lump sum. The amount is provided to the insured or any of the dependents within the policy year.
- Multiplier Benefit – The Multiplier benefit within the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan provides a 50% increase to the existing sum insured amount. The 50% increase is provided in case the policy year remains claim-free. However, if a claim is filed within the year, the benefit would be reduced by 50% in the next year.
- Restore Benefits – Through the Restore benefit, the insured who has purchased the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan can use the sum insured for any upcoming claims the insured creates. The Restore benefit is applicable after the basic sum insured and the multiplier benefit is exhausted.
- Reserve Benefit – The Restore Benefit within the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan covers out-patient treatment, diagnostic treatments, consultations and other payments like co-payments and additional costs.
- Pre-hospitalisation benefits – The medical expenses incurred by the insured 60 days before the insured is admitted to the hospital.
- Post-Hospitalisation benefits – The post-hospitalisation benefits within the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan provide the insured individual with cover for the expenses incurred within 90 days after hospitalisation or domiciliary treatment.
- Day Care Procedures – Under the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan, the insured is covered for any expenses incurred under the Daycare procedures clause.
- Worldwide Emergency Care Benefit – Any individual covered under the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan can file a claim for any emergency expenses incurred outside India. It is important to note that the specified limit of hospitalisation in emergency cases is 48 hours.

The following are the inclusions of the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance plan:
- Emergency Road Ambulance- This inclusion within the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan provides the insured with expenses up to Rs. 2000. It is offered to the insured when they utilise the amount for transportation of the individual to the hospital.
- Preventive Health Check-up- The preventive health check-up cover in the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance plan offers the insured regular health check-up benefits.
HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan: Exclusions
The following are the exclusions of the HDFC ERGO Health Wallet Insurance Plan:
- Injuries or treatments caused due to war or foreign aggression.
- Weight-loss treatments or obesity-related surgeries.
- Any surgeries undertaken for cosmetic purposes other than medically necessary procedures.
- Any treatments or expenses arising due to the correction of vision.
