      1. Variety of Cancer Treatments Covered

      This HDFC ERGO health policy provides coverage for a variety of cancer treatments, be it conventional treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. or advanced treatments like immunotherapy, proton beam therapy, etc.

      2. Coverage for First Diagnosis & Recurrence of Cancer

      Unlike most cancer insurance plans, this policy covers the treatment cost of cancer diagnosed for the first time as well as recurrence.

      3. Tax Benefits

      Policyholders can avail tax deductions on the premiums paid to buy an HDFC ERGO iCan Insurance policy.

      Inclusions of HDFC ERGO iCan Insurance Plan

      The following coverage is included under the HDFC ERGO cancer policy:

      • Second Opinion – It covers the cost of availing a second medical opinion on the diagnosis of cancer for the first time.
      • In-patient Treatment – It pays for any hospitalization expenses incurred due to cancer for at least 24 hours.
      • OPD Treatment – It covers the cost of doctor consultations taken for cancer on an outpatient department basis. 
      • Day Care Treatment – It pays for medical procedures and treatments availed for cancer treatment with less than 24 hours of hospitalization.
      • Conventional Treatments – It covers the medical expenses incurred on conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, onco-surgery, etc.
      • Pre-hospitalization Medical Expenses – It pays for medical costs incurred for up to 30 days before hospitalization.
      • Post-hospitalization Medical Expenses – It covers the medical costs incurred for up to 60 days after hospital discharge.
      • Emergency Ambulance – It pays for the medical expenses incurred on availing ambulance services for the transportation of the insured during an emergency.
      • Follow-up Care Post Treatment – It covers the cost of follow-up medical examinations held twice a year, provided there have been no signs of cancer for at least 6 months.
      • CritiCare Benefit – It pays a lump sum amount to the policyholder on the first diagnosis of cancer of specified severity.
      • FamilyCare Benefit – It pays a lump sum amount to the policyholder on the diagnosis of advanced metastatic cancer or recurrence of cancer.

      Optional Covers:

      • Advanced Plan – It pays for advanced treatments, such as proton beam therapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy and personalized & targeted therapy.

      Exclusions of HDFC ERGO iCan Insurance Plan

      HDFC ERGO iCan Insurance plan excludes the following:

      • Treatment for diseases other than cancer
      • Pre-existing cancer
      • Non-allopathic treatment
      • Treatments availed outside of India
      • Prosthetics and other devices
