What is a Fancy Number Plate?

A fancy number plate, also known as a VIP number plate, is a vehicle registration number considered special because of its unique combination of digits. Unlike a standard number plate, which is randomly assigned by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), it is selected by the vehicle owner through a bidding or reservation process.

Such registration plates may either feature repeated digits, sequence, or culturally significant numbers.

      Types of Fancy Number Plates

The fancy number plates are classified into different categories depending on their uniqueness and demand. Each category is assigned a base or reserve price, and the final price may vary depending on the bidding.

The following is a simple overview to help you get a clear idea about the classification along with pricing:

Category (Registration Number) Minimum Reserve Price (Four-Wheeler) Mode of Allotment
