Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Launch Complimentary Medical Travel Insurance for International Visitors
In a major move to boost tourism and enhance traveller safety, Etihad Airways has teamed up with the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to offer free medical travel insurance to international visitors.

Seamless Insurance Coverage for Peace of Mind
Available for those visiting between July and December 2026, this new initiative offers comprehensive medical coverage within the UAE for up to 15 days. The insurance program is underwritten and administered by The National Insurance Company – Daman. It is part of the PureHealth network, providing visitors with direct access to a vast and reliable healthcare ecosystem across the UAE.
One of the most attractive features of this program is its smooth process. Travellers do not need to navigate separate portals, fill out applications, or pay additional fees; the medical insurance is automatically integrated into the booking of all qualifying Etihad tickets.

Who is Eligible?
To qualify for the complimentary medical travel insurance, passengers must meet a few simple criteria:
- They must be arriving in Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights.
- Both the ticket's point of origin and its point of sale must be located outside the UAE.
- International travellers using Etihad's complimentary Abu Dhabi Stopover Programme are also covered during their stay. However, this is subject to standard terms and conditions.
All treatments and evacuations must be pre-approved by the authorised emergency medical assistance network. Any unapproved self-referrals may result in denial of coverage.
Boosting Abu Dhabi's Tourism Appeal
This launch also aligns with Abu Dhabi's broader strategy to attract international visitors. Some of its world-class cultural landmarks include the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island.
Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, noted that global interest in the Emirate continues to grow. This partnership is designed to meet that demand by offering an exceptional, end-to-end visitor experience.
Echoing this sentiment, Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, emphasised that removing safety concerns allows travellers to enjoy their trips to the fullest. “Giving comprehensive travel insurance with every eligible Etihad ticket means our guests can focus entirely on experiencing the extraordinary Emirati hospitality Abu Dhabi has to offer,” he stated.
By including complimentary medical protection directly into the flight booking, Etihad and DCT Abu Dhabi are setting a new benchmark for destination standards. This will also ensure that international guests feel valued and cared for from the moment they book.
