Visa Information for Thailand

The visa can be availed by visiting the Thailand Embassy or at any of the international airports on arrival.

Since May 1, 2022, all foreigners visiting Thailand need to apply for the Thailand Pass.

This Thailand Pass has been designed to make the documentation process faster for people who want to visit Thailand.

The application requirements as well as the approval will depend on the applicant's vaccination status. Depending on the motive of visiting, a Thailand visa can be categorised into the following:

  • Tourist Visa: Offered for either single or multiple entries and valid for up to 60 days
  • Non-Immigrant Visa: For a stay up to 90 days in Thailand. This visa is entirely designed for a single entry.
  • Non-Immigrant B-Visa: For those who are visiting due to business or work purposes
  • Non-Immigrant Ed Visa: For those who are visiting Thailand for education/vocational courses etc. A recommendation letter from the authorised body is required to avail of this visa.
  • Non-Immigrant ‘O’ Visa: For those who want to work and retire in Thailand should avail of this visa or marriage visa in case they wish to get settled with a Thai national.
  • Permanent Resident Visa: Those who stay in the country for 3 years continuously can avail of a permanent visa.

Entry Information for Indians Travelling to Thailand

Indian passport holders can avail of the visa on arrival facility for Thailand. India is among the 19 countries whose citizens can visit Thailand for tourism. However, they can only stay here for a maximum of 30 days.

From May 2022, all visitors will be required to apply for a Thailand pass to speed up the documentation process. Fully vaccinated travellers don't need to quarantine, however, unvaccinated travellers need to quarantine or opt for the No Quarantine program and provide a negative test result.

Travel Documents Required While Travelling from India to Thailand

Following are the important documents required for entering Thailand:

  • Vaccinated travellers need to provide their passport profile page, proof of full vaccination, and travel medical policy with a minimum of USD 10,000 coverage.
  • Unvaccinated travellers who opt for the No Quarantine Program need to provide all of the above and a negative RT PCR for COVID-19, no older than 72 hours before arriving in Thailand
  • Unvaccinated travellers who opt for Alternate Quarantine Program need to provide all of the above along with a confirmed SHA+ hotel booking for 5 days.
  • Other than the ones mentioned above, government-issued photo ID, flight itinerary and accommodation details of the visitors are also required.
