The claim proceedings depend on the type of insurance, and the process one chooses to go for. The claim eventually depends upon the Insured Declared Value. It is simply the maximum amount that the insurer will compensate on a raised claim. The IDV is decided at the time when a buyer applies for a bike insurance policy.

How to file a New India Assurance Cashless Bike Insurance Claim?

At the time of claim settlement, the owner of the insured two-wheeler can prefer either cashless claim settlement or reimbursement claim settlement.

In a cashless claim settlement, the policyholder doesn’t have to pay the network garage any amount to repair the insured two-wheeler.

The process of filing a cashless bike insurance claim at New India Assurance Insurance Company is as follows:

Step 1: Inform the insurer: Customers need to inform the insurer regarding the accident and the damage caused. One can contact the insurance company through the customer service number available on their websites. The policyholder must inform the insurer as soon as possible after the incident.

Step 2: Surveying: The insurer will assess the condition of the bike or two-wheeler to estimate the extent of damage caused.

Step 3: Repairing: Once the survey is done, you can take your two-wheeler to an authorized garage for getting the repairs done.

Step 4: Settlement: The garage will send all the bills and receipts to the insurer while you submit the required documents. The insurance company verifies all the documents and then settles the claim by directly making payments to the garage. However, this is done after you have paid your voluntary deductible.

How to file New India Assurance Reimbursement Bike Insurance Claim?

During the reimbursement bike insurance claim, the insurance holder has to pay for the repairs of the two-wheeler if the bike is taken to a garage not authorized by the insurer. The step by step process to claiming for a reimbursement bike insurance claim are:

Step 1: Intimate the insurance company: Inform your insurer about the accident and the damage of the insured two-wheeler.  You can simply call on the toll-free number provided on the insurer’s website. However, remember to do it within 24 hours of the incident.

Step 2: Surveying of the damaged two-wheeler: A surveyor will come from the insurance company to assess the damages caused. During this inspection, the damage and the loss will be confirmed for further proceeding of the claim settlement.

Step 3: Repair: You can then take your vehicle to any garage of your choice for getting the repairs done. Remember to collect all the bills and receipts as they have to be submitted to the insurer.

Step 4: Claim Settlement: Submit all the receipts to the insurer along with the other documents, pay your deductible. Once the insurer verifies everything, they will reimburse the claim amount to you.

Common New India Assurance Bike Insurance Claim Rejection Reasons

The claim settlement process can get declined for several reasons. One of the major reasons also includes improper submission of documents which can delay or even get the claim settlement cancelled. The insurer has all the rights to decline the claim if the insurance holder is found under any breach of the insurance regulations. Therefore, it’s suggested to go through every aspect before signing for a bike insurance policy.

Some of the common reasons why insurance claims are rejected include:

  • The insurance holder cannot raise any claim if the accident occurred due to intoxication.
  • If the accident happened outside the mentioned geographical area, the claim can be denied by the insurer.
  • The claim can be denied if the insured two-wheeler was used for the execution of any illegal activity.
  • If the Inspector finds out during the assessment that the accident occurred by the rider's carelessness, then the claim will be rejected.
  • If the insurance holder repairs the insured bike without intimating the insurer regarding the accident, the claim will not be validated.
  • The claim will not be considered if the rider didn’t have a valid license during the accident.

New India Assurance No-Claim Bonus

A bike insurance NCB or no-claim bonus is an advantage to the insurance holder at the time of claim. If the policyholder doesn't have any claim record during the one-year tenure, a special discount is offered at the time of the insurance renewal. This discount is reflected in the premium amount of the following year’s policy. It is awarded to the policyholder for driving safely and it can add up to 50% with each claim-free year.
