On the sixth Passport Seva Divas on June 26 2018, the Ministry of External Affairs launched the official mPassport Seva Mobile App was launched to facilitate easier passport-related services for citizens residing within India.

mPassport Seva is a lightweight mobile application designed for Indian smartphone users. They can easily access various passport-related information and services on their phones, seamlessly.

This mPassport Seva application can be used on both Android and iOS devices. It lets its users easily apply for an Indian passport; pay for the application process, and even schedule passport appointment online for various passport application procedures. Take a look at some of the features offered by this mPassport Seva mobile application:

• First-time users can create an account using the ‘New User Registration’ feature
• Users can sign in to their registered user account using the credentials provided
• Users can fill out a passport application form if they wish to apply for a Passport via the mPassport Seva app.
• Users can easily schedule their police verification for Indian passport (to get a Police Clearance Certificate)
• Users can also check the Indian passport application fee using the available fee calculator. This includes different types of services opted for, such as a normal passport fee or tatkaal passport fee.

Steps to Apply for Passport Using mPassport Seva Mobile Application

To apply for an Indian passport through the mPassport Seva mobile app, follow these steps:

• Step 1Download the mPassport Seva application on your phone. You can do this through the Google Play Store or Apple Store.
• Step 2Once installed, open the mPassport Seva application on your phone
• Step 3Click 'New User Registration' and create an account.
• Step 4From the drop-down menu, select the nearby/applicable Passport Office.
• Step 5Now provide your personal details, including full name, date of birth, and official email ID
• Step 6Provide a unique login ID (this can be the same as the applicant's email ID).
• Step 7Now set a strong password.
• Step 8Set up a security question in case you forget your password in the future. Make sure it is something you will remember easily.
• Step 9A captcha will appear; enter it and click on the 'submit' button.
• Step 10After clicking on 'submit', you will receive an account verification link at your registered email address. Through this, your account will be activated.
• Step 11Click the verification link, then log in with your newly created ID and password to activate your account.
• Step 12Once your account is verified, reopen the mpassport application.
• Step 13Click on the 'Existing User' tab, log in using your ID, password, and Captcha, then select 'Apply for fresh passport' or 'Re-issue of passport'.
• Step 14Fill up the passport application form online by following the instructions mentioned on the m passport seva app.
• Step 15Pay the required passport application fee depending on the service opted for(Normal or Tatkaal). Next, schedule an online appointment for passport document submission at the nearest passport centre.
