Types of Taiwan Tourist Visa

Depending on your eligibility, you can apply for a Tourism Visa or the ROC Travel Authorisation Certificate. Here's a summary of these two Taiwan tourist visa types.

Taiwan Tourist Visa Types Description
Tourism Visa A visa for travellers visiting Taiwan for leisure purposes. It allows for short-term stays for tourism activities.
ROC Travel Authorization Certificate A document valid for 90 days, allowing multiple entries. Holders can stay in Taiwan for up to 14 days per visit, with the 14-day period starting from the day after arrival.

Taiwan Tourist Visa Requirements

The Taiwan tourist visa requirements applicable to you will depend on the applicable tourist visa type.

For a ROC travel authorization certificate, you must fulfil the following requirements.

  1. Valid Passport: The applicant's passport must be valid for at least six months from their arrival date in Taiwan.
  2. Onward/Return Ticket: The applicant needs to have a confirmed onward or return air or ferry ticket.
  3. Employment History: The applicant must not have previously worked as a blue-collar worker in Taiwan.
  4. Valid Documentation from Specific Countries:
    • The applicant must possess a valid resident or permanent resident card, a valid entry visa (including electronic visas), or a resident card/visa that expired within the past 10 years from one of the following regions: Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, any EU or Schengen countries, the UK, or the US.
    • Applicants using electronic visas from Australia or New Zealand must show these visas upon entry to Taiwan.
    • Applicants with visas from Japan or Korea must present proof of having entered those countries.
  5. Previous ROC Visa or Resident Card:

However, individuals holding ROC visas with specific codes such as FL (migrant worker), X (others), P (special permission from MOFA), or resident cards issued for migrant workers, are not eligible for the Travel Authorisation Certificate.
  6. Holders of the ROC Travel Authorisation Certificate are allowed a maximum of six entries into Taiwan within one-year, from January 1 to December 31. Applicants must apply for a visitor visa at a Taiwan embassy or overseas mission for more than six visits.
  7. The certificate is valid for 90 days, permitting multiple entries during this period. The stay limit is 14 days per visit starting the day after arrival. If a new certificate is required, it must be applied for at least seven days before the current one expires.
  8. The form must be completed accurately and truthfully, as exceeding six entries under the Travel Authorisation Certificate may result in denial of entry.
