Care (Religare) Health Insurance Corona Kavach policy is a health insurance plan designed to cover the medical expenses arising out of the treatment of COVID-19. COVID-19 can lead to serious ailments and therefore, its treatment can get highly expensive. The Care Health Insurance Corona Kavach policy provides financial aid to the insured so that he/she afford the medical expenses incurred during the treatment of COVID-19, be it at a hospital or home.

  • Sum Insured - Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh
  • Policy Coverage -Individual/ Floater
  • Age Limit for Adults - 5 years
  • Age Limit for Dependent Children - 1 day
  • Family Members Covered Under Floater Plan - Self, legally wedded spouse, parents, parents-in-law, dependent children
  • Policy Term - 5, 6.5 and 9.5 months
  • Waiting Period - 15 days initial waiting period

Inclusions of Care Health Insurance Corona Kavach Policy 

The following medical expenses are covered under a Care (Religare) Health Insurance Corona Kavach policy:

COVID Hospitalization Cover:

  • It covers hospitalization expenses incurred during the treatment of COVID-19.
  • It pays for the cost of support items, such as PPE kits, masks, etc. required during the treatment of COVID-19.
  • Only medical expenses resulting from hospitalization of 24 hours and more will be covered.

Road Ambulance Cover:

  • It covers the cost of availing road ambulance services up to a maximum of Rs 2000 per hospitalization.
  • The ambulance charges will be covered only if the patient needs to be hospitalized for the treatment of COVID-19.

Home Care Treatment Expenses:

  • It covers the cost of availing home treatment for COVID-19 for a maximum of 14 days.
  • The coverage can be availed only if the patient is diagnosed with COVID-19 from a government-authorized diagnostic centre.
  • The treatment expenses will be covered only if a doctor has advised for home care treatment.

AYUSH Treatment:

  • It covers medical expenses incurred on in-patient treatment for COVID-19 through Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga, Unani, Naturopathy and Siddha systems of medicines.

Pre & Post Hospitalization Expenses:

  • It covers pre-hospitalization expenses incurred for up to 15 days before getting admitted to a hospital for COVID-19 treatment.
  • It covers post-hospitalization expenses incurred for up to 30 days after getting discharged from the hospital.

Hospital Daily Cash:

  • This optional cover provides a daily cash allowance of 0.5% of the sum insured  to the insured for up to a maximum of 15 days.
  • Daily allowance will be given only if the patient is admitted for at least 24 hours.

Care (Religare) Health Insurance Corona Kavach Policy Claim Process 

Given below is the claim process for Care (Religare) Health Insurance Corona Kavach policy:

Cashless Claim:

  • Go to a network hospital of Care (Religare) Health Insurance Company and get admitted
  • Take a cashless claim request form from the hospital and send it to the insurer
  • The insurer will issue a pre-authorization letter to the hospital after verification
  • Check all the documents and sign the papers during discharge
  • Pay for expenses not covered by the insurer

Reimbursement Claim:

  • Intimate the insurer about emergency hospitalization within 24 hours and planned hospitalization at least 48 hours before admission
  • Arrange all the required documents and send them to the insurer within 15 days in case of a post-hospitalization claim and 30 days in case of hospitalization, home care treatment and pre-hospitalization claims
  • The insurer will verify the documents and either accept or reject the claim

  • Patient’s test reports, including COVID-19 test reports
  • Photocopy of patient’s passport or any other photo ID
  • Duly filled Care (Religare) Corona Kavach claim form
  • Medical practitioner’s prescription advising  hospitalization
  • OT notes or surgeon’s certificate, if applicable
  • Implant sticker or invoice or sticker, if any
  • Original hospital bill along with the item-wise break-up
  • Hospital bill payment receipts
  • Hospital discharge summary stating the patient’s medical history
  • NEFT details of the policyholder
  • KYC details for claims above Rs 1 lakh
  • Legal heir/ succession certificate
  • Photocopy of patient’s passport or any other photo ID
  • Duly filled Care (Religare) Corona Kavach claim form
  • Medical practitioner’s prescription advising  hospitalization and home treatment
  • Home treatment discharge certificate with start and end date
  • Patient’s daily monitoring chart signed by the treating doctor
